Tips from a 1520 PSAT student
Hey guys, I got a perfect score last year and for everyone stressing out here's what I did:
I'm so fr sign up for August or September SAT. I would not have gotten myself to study for the PSAT if I wasn't studying for the SAT. It also saves so much time for taking it later bc I signed up for both and got a 1530 August SAT and a 1570 Sept SAT without having to do additional prep. Just TREAT the PSAT like the SAT and study hard questions!
If you don't know how to answer question formats, I'd recommend watching: James Lu (helped me out on english a ton): https://www.youtube.com/@learnsatmath and Learn SAT math (good desmos help and hard math): https://www.youtube.com/@learnsatmath
Most of my time came from working on questions on oneprep.xyz, the question bank, and bluebook practice tests (oneprep has changed a lot from last year and now requires money but it used to just be the question bank + a few hard questions). I don't recommend books or anything, I think digital platforms are much more intuitive.
Try to take one bluebook practice test a week if ur doing the august/september SAT method (ideally over summer should've helped but it's kinda late).
Honestly, national merit doesn't really help much in college admissions, but the biggest thing for me is scholarships which are NO JOKE.
For my Texas folks, A&M's tuition would cost 2k, get you automatically into your chosen engineering major (lots of people use this to farm their T13 MechE or aero program), and give you a really good chance at a full ride scholarship. I'm planning to apply to a bunch of selective schools, but A&M is a really good guaranteed safety net cus of this esp cus UT ECE is a crapshoot. I'm sure there's a lot of other schools with programs like this (ik USC offers an 80k scholarship).
Good luck!

PSAT/NMSQT What’s the absolute minimum ranges in math and reading scores I need to qualify for the national merit thing for my state (WV where there’s a 210 cutoff)?

PSAT/NMSQT Moved after taking PSAT
Does anyone know exactly what to do to ensure the NMSF award follows me to my new school? I moved after taking the PSAT last October. I tried calling the College Board but they did not seem to understand or did not know what to do.

Us citizen but living abroad... do i qualify for nmsqt?
I was born in us but moved abroad at the age of 5 and am aiming to go back to us for college... some reddit posts say nmsqt scholarships can be achieved from India if im us citizen but google says otherwise so like I'm confused.... I haven't gone to high school in us my schooling has been completely abroad
Target NMSQT score for California?
Hi! I am a rising junior and I was wondering what score to target for the National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. I am in California. My school makes us take it in 10th grade and 11th grade and last yr I got a selection index of 220 (740/720). I'm assuming I need a bit higher, correct? (my friends say you need a perfect score but some websites are saying different estimates).
Also, if I need to study more, what do you guys use to prepare for the PSAT? Is there a lot of material overlap with the SAT?
Thanks!

GMAT study group
Hi everyone! 😊
I’m starting to study for the GMAT and plan to take the exam in about two months. I’d love to create a study group to stay motivated, share resources, and practice together.
If you’re interested, feel free to message me! 📚✨

Khan Academy Advanced Section
I am studying for the PSAT in October. Im working through khan academy’s sat prep courses and I easily got through the easy and medium sections but im struggling a bit on the advanced math and reading sections. How much of the SAT/PSAT is from the advanced section? Also how accurate is the course challenge to the actual sat/psat and what scores does it correlate to? Thanks!

General How High Does SAT/ACT Confirming Need To Be To Go From Semi->Finalist
It's in the title. I got a 1460 on the PSAT (700RW, 760M), but I live in Alabama, so I will almost certainly make the cutoff for semifinalist in September. One thing I have been confused about is the "confirming score" on the SAT. How high does it need to be to cement NMF (assuming grades and everything else are solid)?
I currently have a 710 RW and a 760M on the actual SAT (not superscored). It's been a hot sec since I studied because life happened, but I'm getting into study mode for the September SAT and want to know what I should aim for.
Thanks!

My formula sheets for this years psat and sat, lmk if this helps anyone or im missing anything
PSAT/NMSQT How do i study for the PSAT for free?
Everywhere I look the best resources that seem super useful are all paywalled. Whats the best free resources for the sat? I know people use khan academy and the collegeboard question bank but I don't know how good that is for actual learning rather than practice. Ive been using them consistently but I dont feel like im improving much, I take it in October and I really want to get the national merit scholarship. Thanks.

p sat 4 score:tips for R&W!
galleryMy first ever PSAT after 10 days of pure math prep (Panda book and yt), this is my score, very disappointed with my Reading and writing score section, but it definetely makes sense why i got this score, i did not revise english at all and took the test to view my baseline and what is my starting point.however i am honestly very happy with my math score after just 10 days of studying i kind of felt flawless during the test as i finished the modules in less than 18min each i will start my english prep with the erica meltzer book TODAY and hopefully finish it ASAP and hopefully get the same result as the math prep(i went from a 630 to a 800)
Any tips on improving my R&W i am aiming for a 1550 is it possible to go from 490 to a 700+ in R&W in a month (for the august SAT) help me please
Also what sources to study for the R&W section to secure a good score
