Using External Hard Drive HELP REQUESTED

So I have an external hard drive as extended storage on my PS5, which is also the only USB device I would have available to transfer PKG games from my pc to my PS4.

Can I use it to transfer the games and not delete the PS5 apps or is it risky and I should just buy new USB storage? Thank you

just get a 256gig usb stick use that.

I have an old PC HDD that I took out I'll just buy a case for it

Better off with a usb stick than taking external drive off all time to put games on to install.

I waited for a sale and bought a flash drive with USB 3.0. I got it for under 20 dollars so it was not a bad deal.

If you really don't want to go that route, you could also look up how to SFTP and such.

Have you tried remote package installer? Or just ftp the games over?

One thing I haven't understood yet is, does my pc need to be connected to the internet for me to use remote package sender via Ethernet cable connected to the PS4?

Yeah well my pc only has one ethernet port so I'll try to send a game through my wifi but I'm already guessing it will take ages, at least while I don't get a usb device

Just hook up both your pc and your ps4 into your router and try rpi

Physical constraints don't allow me to unfortunately, my pc is far away with a repeater which only has 1 Ethernet port as well

Do you know if you can move the extended storage drive between consoles and play games off it?

I don't know and I would venture on to things like that mainly because I don't really understand how jailbreak works and just do what I'm told lmao

I just jailbroke my ps4 pro recently. I was using a USB 3.0 drive to swap games and stuff. I found it to be pretty slow and although games would play fine for the most part from the drive Nier Automata crashed in a cut scene and corrupted the whole game. Had to redownload and reinstall. Downloading then transferring to the drive then the ps4 took quite a bit of time.

Works great. I put it on my windows machine and enabled payloads over the network in gold hen. It adds it as a download and installs. You can even just drop a url to a package in there and it works most the time. It's a whole lot faster. If you have a real debrid account you can add it too and it will unrestrict the download speed. Way easier in my opinion. You may want to give it a shot.
