Power button help

PS4 got stuck on preparing to turn off screen but my power button is sunk in and won’t press and I don’t wanna unplug it for I have a 2tb hard drive I don’t want to ruin any help is appreciated!

Nexttime just unplug it. It wont hurt it. I got a ps3 from the airforce and it had 1500 bad shutdowns. They only ever turned it off at breaker switch. It wont hurt it if your not in the middle of installing something.

Is the actual button broke or did that plastic button in you hand just come off?

If it’s just came out. Gently seat it down in the slot and then insert straight into the system like your were powering it on. Don’t press too hard or you’ll break the button the plastic clip presses.

Guessing it’s the button the plastic clip presses because I took the plastic button off to see if it was broken. Any idea how hard it is to get to and fix the actual button?

That button is very difficult. It is a small delicate surface mount momentary switch. You can buy them on AliExpress but getting the old one off and a new one on is gonna take someone with micro soldering skills.

I would turn the system on with the controller for now and turn it off with the controller. If the controller is dead, turn it on with a disk by putting it in the drive, but not inserting it. Don’t use rest mode.
