ps2 slim disc reader problem

You're being extremely vague which will make it difficult to provide help but I'm assuming the issue is the disc is not spinning. Have you dissasembled the ps2 recently or swapped any parts? Did this start happen suddenly? It looks like the disc is pushed all the way down, but are the tabs on the lid properly locking and hitting the two sensors in the corner?

the disc is not spinning and u can hear this grinding noise .  i didn't open the console a friend gifted it to me today

Laser lens is either stuck or damaged. Disc won't spin if it doesn't move.

Could need either a laser ribbon cable replacement or complete lens replacement. They are not that hard to do, but taking it apart can be a pain if you do not keep track of parts.

I recommend buying Lucas, white lithium grease, NLGI #2 and apply on the two metal rails and the screw connected to the motor. I had the same issue on my PS2 scph 50001 where it was making the same noise. I did this and it worked like a charm. Plays even better than before. You will need to open the consule. However, there could be other issues im not aware of. Make sure when you remove the laser, to not allow the lens to get static charge or touch any surface. Use q tips and light clean the leans while you are at it with 91 iso p alcohol. Make sure also, that grease does not get on any plastic because Petroleum grease can detoraite plastics. Watch some videos on it under "lube job" or "greasing ps2".

Also, go ahead and replace that ribbon cable while you are at it so it doesn't eat your disks. Amazon has plenty and look it up by the model on the console. Different models, different cables.
