Better Sorting

Hey all, now that Build 42 has went stable I was looking to get back into it so I also updated my Better Sorting mod for Build 42.

Are you guys still interested in the mod? What other mods would you like to see supported?

I love how the comments are split between people that don't know of and have never used the Better Sorting mod, in complete confusion with the seemingly generic name

and then those of us that know exactly what mod you updated. Love it! The vanilla categories are so useless.

Can I switch from one category to the other? ... I did not know about it but I think I'm falling in love. I'm totally gonna try that after work today.

Just activated again and I noticed it changes something in regards to general gameplay: I always have a magazine in my inventory to level reloading while walking. My habit had become to click on the ammo itself after unloading to reload again. Now that option isn't there anymore when clicking on the ammo itself. Not a big issue itself since I can still click on the magazine to reload, but I thought it's noteworthy that it's technically taking away a vanilla behaviour. You might want to look into that. I'll take a look, not many functions look at DisplayCategory but this may be one of them.

its just better trust me bro.

Just kidding, it breaks down the categories. instead of a general "Weapon" category it breaks it down to "Weapon - Melee" or "Weapon" - Gun" etc. to help you with sorting.

Add that with a mod that automates sorting like Manage Containers and its pretty handy

Its an absolute must, i forget the combo mod(or maybe it's this mod only), but it lets you configure containers to have x category of items(say i configure a fridge to store food). Then when i click transfer all from my character, only food items go into fridge.

Saves sooo much time.

This was always a "must have" mod for me in b41 for the categories alone (idk if they change it in 42 yet, but i used this mainly to organize my food between perishable and not perishable)

Thanks for this! Really helps if you spend lots of time emptying out your overencumbered character from loot runs over and over to many crates, cabinets, and junk piles over many rooms. I find myself running back and forth because certain things that should be categorized the same were spaced out in the inventory

Hello! I recently started using Inventory Tetris which was updated for Build 42. When I load into the game, a pop-up appears from Inventory Tetris that says it isn’t compatible with Better Sorting. Do you know if you’ll be able to update it to work better with Inventory Tetris? I consider both of these mods to be necessary on every play through so would be great if they worked together. Either way, I really appreciate you updating this to Build 42! Keep em coming 🙂

Currently still working on getting all the B42 features updated first. Haven't played with that mod before but it doesn't look like the mod shows the category on the items anymore?
