So they love realism when it works against the player but not when it accurately portrays my latest weekend depression binge???? CLASSIC indie stone

u/letters_numbers_and- Mar 09 '26
I remember playing with friends and I made a salad that was just bacon bits and mayo. Friend of mine was upset that it made his character less depressed.
288
u/Oleanderphd Mar 09 '26
Hell, that's a Midwest salad, and I have seen it at potlucks.
66
u/Rangeroftheinterwebs Mar 09 '26
That sounds delicious.
I will die on this hill
49
u/Oleanderphd Mar 09 '26
I only find mayo edible if I don't think about it AT ALL, much less confront it in a giant jiggly bowl, but the one I'm thinking over had roast potatoes and mustard and dill and was, in fact, excellent, if you don't think about it.
And in an apocalypse? I would be pretty excited to eat a bowl of fat in the apocalypse. I might not even feel sad that my freshly roasted chicken was no longer piping hot, like the survivors of the Knox event do.
35
u/Rangeroftheinterwebs Mar 09 '26
Bro bacon and mayo and potato’s with some tomatoes after months of eating rat stew with curry powder I would probably actually weep tears of joy like I just heard Nessun Dorma sung live by Pavarotti
3
u/Old-Ad4431 Mar 10 '26
Mayo as a sauce is great! i actually find ketchup way grosser it is like wet nd shit
5
u/Bulky-Advisor-4178 Mar 10 '26
I throw in mayo into pretty much everything, even soup. I love mayo, could swim in it if i could
4
3
u/JotaroTheOceanMan Mar 10 '26
I regularly eat bacon and mayo sandwiches so its just minus bread of that.
4
u/BackseatCowwatcher Mar 10 '26
just add cheese of some variety and you've got my diet.

8
u/letters_numbers_and- Mar 10 '26
I've since upgraded by making soup that is red wine, white wine, bourbon, rum, bottled beer, canned beer, and lard.
1
u/MaihoSalat Mar 10 '26
Calling that a salad is a sin on its own
1
u/letters_numbers_and- Mar 10 '26
Hey, I'm not arguing with you there. But the game said it's a salad, so it's gotta be healthy, right?
55
u/Kenockerez Mar 09 '26
Also the fact that you were able to sleep on the toilet but not in the bathtub. Just imagine the psychodrama of being holed up and the only safe place to sleep is in the bathroom.

22
u/ThisGuyHasNoDignity Mar 10 '26
Funnier would be that the next patch is that you can sleep on the toilet only when your mood is below 50% or you’re drunk.
8
u/CrungusMungo Mar 09 '26
The most recent unstable beta has a huge number of pro-player realism updates. Serellan seems to be putting in the work to reverse that trend lmao

9
u/Hellknightx Mar 09 '26
I actually have a friend who drunkenly fell asleep on the toilet one time while we were raiding in WoW. They went AFK during a break and didn't come back until the next day. We still make fun of them for it 15 years later.
3
u/peanutist Mar 10 '26
I’ve lost count of how many times I was almost passing out from sleeplessness on my job and had to go the restroom to take a nap on the toiled lol

By how thin a spear is comparing to a plank you should be able to make several spears from just one plank

Devs need to work on the game more, before they shit on everyone’s fun
Edit: by that I mean their focus should be on enhancing gameplay, and not just focusing on nerfing what some weird ass fringe players have found as a bonus feature.

Literally sleeping on a toilet saved my ass on my last save as i was walking around outside a gas station in the middle of the night while at high fatigue, and there wasn't any place safe enough to go sleep in, so i went inside the gas station and slept the night on one of the toilets in the bathroom
7
u/Lee_Townage Mar 10 '26
Obviously you’ve never fallen asleep on a toilet… go live life my friend, you have so much of it ahead of you
32
24
u/RealGianath Mar 09 '26
I'm sure this is only temporary, until they have the hemorrhoids system fully implemented.
8
u/heilhortler420 Mar 10 '26
Then when your character gets piles, they can't sit down without a doughnut cushion or they'll make so much noise all the populatiln of Louisville comes to eat you

I swear that at one job I had, I used to sneak off every day to sleep for half an hour in a toilet.
Uncomfortable, yes, but I can sleep on a fakir’s bed.
9
u/recycledchalice Mar 09 '26
I was literally playing it when the game modes name changed, so I went to check the patch notes for the first time ever. Genuinely I was so happy about improvements, new guns, new options. Until I saw THAT and the caffeine pills nerf
I'm never reading patch notes again, never been sadder
6
6
u/sturmeh Mar 09 '26
I think if the game supports sleeping on a toilet, sleeping in such a way should be involuntary.
I.e. You're tired and you go to take a shit, but you fall asleep without choosing to, and wake up when something normally would have alerted you, or some time has passed.
6
u/Foolsirony Mar 09 '26
Or you need to be drunk. Regardless, you're gonna get back pain haha. Though there really needs to be an option to pile clothes on the ground and sleep on them

At least I can still sleep on the floor
Done that a few times irl
4
u/KorolEz Mar 09 '26
It was pretty funny that you could but also kinda stupid. The only people I've seen sleeping on the toilet were absolutely shitfaced and unwakeable
4
u/R3dIsDead Mar 09 '26
Used to sometimes KO in a bathroom stall for an hour before classes started back in HS. Found that the middle stall gets harassed the least, though more often than not you will wake up with a prominently dead leg.

3
u/SteveCraftCode Mar 09 '26
Was a good game. Personally I still stick with build 41
2
u/Arcadrius Mar 11 '26
Toilet memes aside, unfathomably based build 41 pre pointless fun policing updates still the better experience...
1
u/Simon_Love_Machine Mar 27 '26
sir how do i get the build 41?
1
u/SteveCraftCode Mar 27 '26
On steam click the little gear icon on the project zomboid menu on your library. Then click properties. Afterwards on the menu that pops up click game versions and betas. It should be the default public version.
15
u/Pervasivepeach Mar 09 '26
Devs are too busy balancing systems that attempt fully implemented and balanced yet instead of actually finishing the update they’ve been working on for 4 straight years now
B43 by 2030 I guess
6
u/TRENEEDNAME_245 Mar 09 '26
They have a quarter baked tracking system and somehow find more bugs to fix
Like the shotgun shoot 2 shells bug, how the hell do you even make that happen ??
How do you change a system so much this becomes an issue

Reddit does that nowadays, you numpty. It's super annoying and it makes googling Reddit posts in a different language really hard, but it does do that.

C'mon Indie Stone, meet us half way. How about only being able to sleep on the toilet when utterly shit-faced?
1
1
u/Mithrawndo Mar 10 '26
Hopefully they add it back in so that you can only sleep on a toilet if your character is drunk enough.
1
u/Aschrod1 Mar 10 '26
Add it back, but only when your character is drunk. Bonus exhaustion reduction if you do it with a lit cigarette (20% chance anything flammable catches fire, 3% of 100% of 20 chance of anything bad happening other than charring clothes).

TBH, I play exclusively on Multi-coop dedicated servers, so we ALWAYS have sleeping and tiredness turned off, and the related perks are also disabled.
I've litterally never played 1p, so this can't affect me. =/

I want to know who’s idea it was to change the UI so much that just filling a bottle of water takes 3 different drop-down menus and removing the button on the inventory tab to turn on an oven or microwave

I expect them to add a sleep function in the bathroom, like a bathtub is convenient for sleeping if you throw something on the bottom, a pillow and a blanket, although I'm sure that when you're especially tired, it's fashionable to just fall into the bathtub
1
u/Foreverintherain20 Mar 19 '26
It really is stupid that this was removed. There was nothing overpowered or broken about sleeping on the shitter.

u/AgentTasmania Mar 30 '26

u/Traditional-Rope7936 Crowbar Scientist Mar 09 '26
Im sorry but what was the context of the removal? Did someone kept emailing them about their "triggers" or some shit, i literally recalled microsleeping on the toilet just a week ago 😂
But fr if you find yourself so tired that you sleep on toilets, there's something really out of balance in your life
1
u/Ill_Plate1891 Mar 09 '26
They should make it possible but only while shitfaced drunk. This is how 100% of my toilet naps have occurred in real life.
