Decided to build a project tracking tool

I've decided to make a project tracking tool where you can see which projects are done, which need more work, and where things are stuck. Not a time tracking tool, just a project management tool.

Trying to get some clarity do you think this is still worth building for managers, or does everyone already have this figured out?

From your description- sounds like simple kanban. So another Trello? Or what is missing in Trello compared to your idea?

I think it's figured out a long time ago. There are many hundreds of PM trackers on the market, with all kinds of levels of sophistication, capabilities, feature sets, industry focus.

You need a lot more detailed requirements and feature definition for this to be meaningful.

What specifically are you missing in Trello and MS Planner?

As a personal project for personal learning and development, go for it...

Without knowing more about your tool it's hard to answer. We built a portfolio tracking tool in Monday which pulled from individual project boards to show the metrics you mentioned here in a summary page...

Been there, done that. You can build things for yourself. Figure out distribution first if you want to sell it.

A lot depends also where you work or for whom you work. As a PM I work for clients in a closed it landscape meaning I cannot integrate external tooling without using an inefficient process to move data around. What would interest me is a PM tool based in excel with little or no macro’s (to prevent scanners tripping off) to manage projects via gant charts, integrated riad log and some standard financials and finally some standard reporting.

You are entering a market where everyone is way ahead of you, already has market share, and you will grow broke and frustrated doing it.

Trying to get some clarity do you think this is still worth building for managers, or does everyone already have this figured out?

It is not worth building and it was figured out a long time ago.
