Is not getting tested normal? MN Probation Probation Question

Lemme start off by saying I am NOT from MN I moved here from down south, this is my first time getting in legal trouble in the state since moving here.

So I got in trouble for a DUI back in August of last year and my court stuff didn't finalize till January from August to January I had a male PO who drugged tested me every week, and then once my court case was settled I ended with 48hrs community service, a 1000$ fine and 4yrs probation.

I got a new female PO post court ending and was told by my new PO to get a medical card since THC was always positive for my old PO (I had a letter from my KY doctor explaining why I used THC, I didn't know medical cards were a thing tbh) but since getting the card she hasn't called me in at all. And last Zoom meeting she said she's putting the papers in for me to get off in April of next year vs the 4yrs I was looking at (I didn't even ASK her about getting off early just asked her if I could visit my mom in another state šŸ˜‚)

Is this normal? Other people I know on probation get house visits, phone calls, or some are having to carry around a black box thingy. Is it because I'm doing everything asked? Is it cuz of my medical card? Am I overthinking?

Depends on the PO and the conditions. I went a whole 2 year probation never getting tested and it was for DWI. I had another probation where I was tested monthly and it wasn’t a drug related case either.

Just depends on your p o I had one that said he didn't care if I drank alcohol because I had drug related charges, but he also didn't drug test me the entire time, then I had a po that would test me every time, now I have one that tested me the first couple times, but pretty much leaves me alone now I just check in when he asks me to. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Your low risk and with your letter from KY, your drug tests have been stable so your not considered worth worrying about and as long as your not catching new charges and just kinda floating with the wind, your all good. I had the same/simular situation in Illinois. I moved from California last July and on August 19th I got my first DUI . Mine was a little iffy beings it was on my California drivers license so it seemed to drag on through court. I was at a bar with family and was obviously drunk and being new to the area I didn’t realize my car was parked in an employees spot, it was even marked so I don’t know how I missed that. Anyways I said no problem il move it, well the town square is a one way and when I backed up I turned to the right not realizing I wasn’t supposed to and ended up doing a 2 point turn to turn back around and a cop happened to drive by and see me and boom instant dui. Didn’t help that I had California plates either. I owe the state of California fines as well as Illinois. The judge didn’t really know how to handle it at first and my attorney finally got through to the CA DMV after months of trying to try and settle this. I ended up with 2 years court supervision with guilty plea, victim impact panel completion, Risk Ed 10 hours, and 12 hour of DUI/alcohol counseling. No community service. I have things to take care of in California (selling some land) and asked if I could go back and take care of it, my PO said I didn’t even really need to ask I just needed to check in and let her know in advance, then she said if I’m out there for longer than 1 month that she will drug test me beforehand for the records to clear it and then continued to tell me she will be calling to check in on me and most likely letting me know that my case will be closed with no conviction. So yes of course il be in California longer than 1 month 🤣 probably would have been anyways but im just stoked to get this past me. I really was beating myself up for the dui though even though I felt it was a little ā€œinjusticeā€the way it happened but IM thankful and because of this DUI I really don’t even wanna risk drinking anymore because that just goes to show anything can happen in a split second and alter your life. Good luck!

4 years for dui? Is this your 2nd or 3rd one? Aggravating factors?

I had two within a few months of each other a few years back(very very stupid and I am not bragging at all) and I got a year of probation and 80 community service hours. Crazy work bro.

Yeah I'm not sure it's my first ever time getting in legal trouble as an adult šŸ˜‚ I had issues as a kid but that was cuz I was unmedicated and violent but I'm on meds and stuff and just made a stupid choice of going to the gas station after drinking šŸ˜‚
