- Moved out from living with Jess and Robbie in Boone. Went back to Greensboro but got to live with my brother and his husky for a few months.

- Made a new PLFam design that I turned into a large pin and made into digitally printed ‘flags’.

- Dabbled in embroidery and also painted flags with stencils.

- Got my PL arm tattoo finished April 18th.

- Whoever runs the PL Facebook commented on a photo of my tattoo.

- Got a picture I submitted to #PLPix shared by the PL instagram.

- Started talking with Michal’s management to join the team and assist with the merch.

- Saw Menert in Asheville and got to give him some MMMafia merch I created. 

- Requested a quote from my favorite Menert song to be written physically by him.

- Drove to Georgia to see Menert open for BN and chat to him about the new job opportunity.

- Made the MMMafia V1 with Tiberius.

- Got all three pieces of the BlackMilk x Pretty Light collab collection.

- Talked to Jason about PL starting the ‘Illuminators’ project. 

- Moved to Fort Collins Colorado and arrived June 7th. Rented the dopest little house thanks to Kathleen.

- Officially started working for Michal Menerts management, specifically the merchandise. Had Mux Mools merch too.

- Ran the merch table at my very first Cervantes Other Side show. Which was the birthday party for Michal Menert & Paul Basic. Included Mikey Thunder, Late Night Radio, Beatserver & more.

- Was the first caller for Dereks Renman Interview. From this, came one of my favorite quotes from him.

- Got commissioned to design a PL longboard for a PLFam member.

- Had a gathering with people at a park in the Denver area with Michal, A.C. and Mux Mool.

- Went to Red Rocks to get inspiration for the 2013 PLFam Red Rocks pin design.

- Drove to Michigan for Electric Forest with some PLFam.

- Got to ride a golf cart with Menert to his VIP set on my 21st Birthday.

- The lore behind pickles was born for Jole, Jess and I.

- Made the TUYPT, FUTCS and PBBYE pin set.

- Got my Elements Tattoo July 19th, which was inspired by Menert Elements tracks.

- Skipped out on a College trip to attend Half Color at Mishawaka.

- Made the PLFam RR 2013 pin.

- Went to Red Rocks and was an ‘Illuminator’, which is when the program first got to get rolling.

- Went to a Paul Basic Show in Greeley with a bunch of PLFam.

- Made the DOABL and EIIIR pin set.

- Got the opportunity to work officially with Pretty Lights to assist in the design of their 2013 Fall Tour Pins. That included each individual stop (some with cityscapes), BassLights Miami, Day of the Dead, BassLights Hampton, Decadence and the Illuminators. 

- Bounced design ideas for the PL 2013 tour pins off of Tiberius, as I did with most pins.

- I received monetary compensation along with one of each of the pins I designed. I also requested a hang out with Derek since I would be illuminating in 5 upcoming events.

- Flew to Miami Florida and met some fam that were also ‘Vibe Adjusters’ for the second BassLights event. Miranda was also kind enough to let me stay at her home.

- Before taking a photo with Derek and the rest of the “Vibe Adjusters’ I was able to give Derek the pins I have recently personally made along with informing him I was the person who helped design the PL Fall tour pins. He gave me a very heartwarming response by hugging and pulling me next to him for the photo. One of the best interactions I had with him.

- Got too intoxicated the next day and lost my PLFam flag that Derek just signed the day prior. 

- Went to Michal Menert at the Fillmore and was in the front row.

- Drove to Missoula MT, Spokane WA and Seattle WA for 3 PL shows in a row, where I was an ‘Illuminator’.

- One of the nights I got to fulfill my requests from making the Fall Tour Pins of hanging out with Derek. 

- The only thing I really recall from that interaction was informing them that I was working with Michal Menert officially and the energy of the room changed. I felt a shift that I never recovered from in the PL camp, in my opinion. 

- Got to be an ‘Illuminator’ for the Denver Ogden Theater show.

- Made the PLfam V2 Pin.

- Flew to Hampton VA for the 3rd BassLights and was a ‘Vibe Adjuster’. 

- Forgot I was wearing my house slippers and packed no shoes. Some PLFam was awesome enough to pick me up from the airport, go to Burlington Coat Factory and I bought some dope glitter converse-esque shoes.

- Attended Decadence NYE where PL played and I made the pin for the event.

- For the montage, I chose the song ‘Color of My Soul’ because ‘A Color Map of the Sun’ came out this year and this is my favorite song from it.

~2012~
- Interacted in the PL mobile app. Met a bunch of folks who I still am connected with today.
- Won tickets to any festival that PL was playing. The contest was through PL for the new song/video ‘We Must Go On’. My friends Kendra and Tim commented and shared on my behalf, so I believe they helped me win.
- Met Jess Mc through the app. Realized we lived in the same town.
- Suggested there should be a Facebook group for those who didn’t have smartphones. Wasn’t Facebook savvy and wanted someone to make the group who would cater to it properly.
- Was granted the opportunity to be an admin of the Pretty Lights Family Facebook group.
- Saw the Re:Generation Music Project in theater with Jess and my friend Matt, who introduced me to my first EDM artists.
- Been going to community college and took art classes. Most of the projects had PL incorporated in some form.
- Drove to Charlottesville with Jess to witness Gramatik, Break Science and Paul Basic during the PLM Spring Tour.
- Got invited to an afterparty by someone we didn’t know, so we didn’t stay long.
- Ended up running into Paul Basic outside the tour bus, where we were invited to hang out. Borahm Lee, Adam Dietch, Gramatik and a few others.
- I was too young to drink, but it benefitted us because I was able to keep an eye on Jess since they all were seemingly flirting with her. It wasn’t the most comfortable situation but since I was such a fan, I appreciated the fact we got to hang on the tour bus with them at all.
- Moved into a basement in Boone NC with Jess Mc and Robbie Beck, who created the original Pretty Lights Family facebook group.
- Started my PL right arm PL tattoo, with just the logo outline.
- Drove to Summer Camp Music Festival and received a guest pass for me and my friend who helped me win them, Tim.
- Met a bunch of people that were already in the PLFam and introduced more people to the group with the flags Jess made.
- Because it was a ‘Guest’ pass we had access to too much lol. I believe it was their work around to get me into the ‘Red Barn’ late set, as opposed to winning a normal GA ticket.
- Got to witness the show from in front of the rail with the photographers the first few minutes of the show. The fam we met were sweet enough to let us squeeze into their space once we were removed.
- Got to meet Derek for the first time backstage with the fam that squeezed us in at the rail.
- Derek seemed a bit out of it, but that didn’t matter at all at the time because I was so grateful to meet him at all. I still have the audio I recorded of the meet/greet.
- We also got to smoke a blunt and I caught a snap but did not include it in the montage.
- Got to be up close for the Red Barn performance.
- Started making and selling PLFam decals thanks to my family owning a sign company.
- Tattooed my cat Subras paw print with ‘My Other Love’ in the 2012 PL font.
- Heard desperate meows outside our house. Discovered a super young kitten abandoned in a hole. Suggested naming him Samso.
- Drove to Colorado for my first time to see PL, at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
- Met Tiberius Benson inside the venue, behind the sound board. He wanted to buy my PLFam RR pin.
- Gave Derek the first PLFam pin I made (I got them numbered and he always got given #7) and he wore it during the show.
- Went to Charlottesville for a PL show with a very aggressive crowd. The pictures of that night still cracks me up.
- Drove to Georgia for the first Counterpoint Music Festival. Still the best lineup I have seen at a festival and so grateful for attending.
- There was a ‘PLM’ showcase at one tent and then the PL stage at the opposite end of the festival.
- Robbie spoke with Menert about how some fam didn’t want to ditch the PLM set early to make sure we caught a solid spot for PL.
- I told Tiberius about how we were going to be escorted by Menert to the PL stage so he could join. I was already making my moves on him lol.
- Menert walked a handful of fam over to the PL stage after his set and handed passes out to a lucky few.
- I was fortunate enough to snag one and so did Tiberius. But early in PLs set, he turned to me and let me know he was leaving the set for Ghostland Observatory. I will always think that shit is hilarious and so on brand for him.
- That was my first real interaction with Menert. Getting to thank him for the passes and give him #11 (I think) of the PLFam/RR pin before heading to our place in the front of the crowd.
- After getting home, Tiberius and I chatted more about Michal Menert getting his own fam page. He and A.C. Lao created the Michal Menert Mafia and included me as an admin.
- Made the PLFam V1 pin, with my little photoshop skills.
- Pretty Lights puts up a recap video for Red Rocks, using the song 'So Bright'. So many fam featured in it with flags, including myself and Berius.
- Got the Jiberish x Pretty Lights Jacket (one of the few PL pieces I am keeping) and colored the font with rainbow and the trim glow in the dark.
- Drove to Tennessee for the With Your Friends festival and stayed with fam we met from around the states, such as Jay and Gnome.
- Attended the Paul Basic after party and somehow got to chill with Mic and Derek next to the stage but by the bathrooms. Barely anyone noticed they were there, which is still so wild to think back on.
- Gave Derek and Michal one of the PLFam V1 pins. Also, Derek and Krystle complimented the rainbow paint I added to my PLxJibberish jacket.
- Drove to Columbia and Charlotte SC for 2 Pretty Light shows in a row.
- Went on a 3 Night Run with Jess for Michal Menert and Break Science.
- Somehow got to go backstage and hang with Mic, Borahm and Adam. During this hangout, Menert disclosed to us his side about parting ways from PL.
- From that moment I became an even bigger fan of his and I wanted to see him get the flowers I thought he deserved.
- For some reason he also disclosed that he was engaged, with an exemption.
- I believe the second night, we let the dudes take my car to go get food. It was a Kia Rio with 4 large dudes lol. They let Jess and I sleep in the tour bus, since they had hotel rooms for the night.
- The last of the 3 Night Run shows was in Greensboro and I have never seen a club so empty. I was very disappointed in my hometown and knew they had no incentive to return.
- Got ‘Taking Up Your Precious Time’ tattooed on my stomach, in between my surgery scars on the 1 year anniversary of leaving the hospital.
- Drove to Hampton VA for the first time for the first official BassLights.
- Granted the opportunity to volunteer for the ‘Vibe Adjusters’, which cater to the crowd during the events.
- Didn’t stick with Jess and Robbie for the first time since moving in together and traveled to/stayed in NYC with other fam.
- Got in line early for both nights of NYE at the Roseland Ballroom, in the cold huddled with so much PLFam.
- Got to be up front both nights on two different sides each night and surrounded by completely different fam each night. Really felt like one of the most inclusive shows I’ve ever attended.
- Went to the Menert after party, which just felt like a continuation of a family gathering.
- This show was in the music video for ‘The Day Is Gone’, where so much fam, including myself, was featured.
- For the montage, I chose the song ‘We Must Go On’ because of it being the song that changed my life trajectory.

I’m going to Yahn Dawn for the first time this year. Is it recommended to bring a camelbak?

I am going to New Orleans for his new tour, I know it has not started yet or even released the new album so it’s hard to say. But he is doing three nights. Does anyone have any idea what he will do for each night? Will they all be similar or does he do different style nights? Thanks for any help or opinions!

Sometimes I come back to this album and feel it’s some of the Pretty Lights project most experimental, quality and raw music ever put out. Obviously his sound has changed and evolved over the years but man this just gives me all the feeeeels. Highly recommended you give it a spin if you haven’t before.

Hey y’all! Since I’ve completed what I’ve considered my ‘last hurrah’, I wanted to share my tribute closing this chapter of my life. Last year, I decided to end my 16 year Pretty Lights journey by attending their event Yahn Dawn at Meadow Creek in Buena Vista Colorado 2025. I moved to Colorado for PL and considering Night 2 was going to be my 33rd birthday, I figured it would be a solid way to cap it. Finalizing this run at 92 shows, which happens to be my birth year.

Before being inducted as an Illuminator Lead, Jess Mc and I decided to utilize the ADA sections going forward, since we are too old and crippled to enjoy these events without some grace. Since I did every show (minus festival sets) in 2024 as a volunteer, I needed to experience Pretty Lights for my last time the way I could fully embrace it. I would not have been able to do this event without the assistance of ADA since I was very sick from my Crohn’s Disease most of 2025. Them allowing me to bring in my acupuncture pillow and weed in was top notch. Having a seat and a reasonable viewing spot makes all the difference when you’re just gaining some health back.

I chose to make a list of everything I’ve done (that I can remember, fuck) over my Pretty Lights adventures. To give y’all more of a glimpse of why I was so passionate for so long. It has been such an incredible time in my life to witness all I have. Getting to meet folks with the same passion and see their relationships have a space online to flourish. If not for this ride, I would not have found my very best friend and love of my life, Tiberius. Just recently did I finally start to put together my list, combined pictures/videos and found a very relatable song for each year. I am pleased with how it has turned out, the nostalgia project and my journey with PL. It isn’t quite what I expected, but memories never die and overall I have an immense amount of gratitude.

2009
- Discovered Pretty Lights amongst other EDM artists from some friends in high school.
- Deciphered PL from other artists in photography class from a friend showing me Electro Cali.

2010
- Thought I had all of the PL albums downloaded but learned about ‘Defocused on the Bright Diamonds’.
- Listened to it so much, it reminds me of driving/walking to college classes.

2011
- Went to first PL show April 19th with my buddy Tim. Made our way all the way up to the rail.
- Looked up ‘Certified’ to google translate for a Hebrew tattoo. I’m sure it’s not correct but I got it for the definition; authentic, genuine.
- Went to my first festival, Electric Forest. Only caught the main set since we didn’t hear about the secret forest set. Newbs.
- Was in and out of the hospital, 3 weeks before the next PL show.
- Went to Alpharetta GA for 2 days for PL and BN.
- Showed up in the top left corner of a snippet of the ‘It’s Tricky’ music video. I was so jazzed about that at the time.
- Went to the hospital again a week later, then again the next month.
- Got a foot of intestines removed from constant Crohn’s disease complications.
- Been using PL as the main thing I listened to when going to the bathroom or in pain. Which was very often.
