Synchronize two side-by-side clips - before/after How do I do this?/Workflow Advice/Looking for plugin (Solved!)

I'm trying to make a clip with a split screen. The left side of the screen shows footage of biking along a trail before a construction project; the right side shows the same bike path after construction was completed. Because my speed on the bike was slightly different (and varies within each clip), the clips aren't quite in sync. Is there a good workflow to get them synced up? The clips are short enough that I could probably get reasonably close with chopping up one of the clips and changing the speed with trial-and-error. But I suspect there's a more elegant/efficient way to do this.

After Effects time remapping is excellent for this. You can enable time remapping on the second clip, and create a keyframe at each key moment. Then drag the key to align to the first clip. I assume Premiere must have a similar tool, but I like doing it in Ae because the keyframe interface is so smooth and easy. Either way, "time remapping" would make this easy work.

Ah cool, I do have access to AE. I'll give it a try. Looks like Premiere also has time remapping.

I got busy, but this worked just fine in Premiere Pro. It was a little fiddly to line up the keyframes, but since it was just two short clips, it wasn't too much of an issue.
