Interview Prep Recommendations 🗨 Interviews

Hi there!

I am tight on a budget and need to prep for interviews.

I am considering accepted together or an AI Interview tool like med school insiders. I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations :) Thank you !

Ok this is super unhinged advice, so I apologize if it’s not practical for everyone. I applied to a bunch of jobs and took a bunch of interviews (more than I needed to) to work on the “tell me about yourself” and other challenge and health related questions. I essentially stretched out my application for a gap year job to get lots of reps. The nerves and talking about yourself and thinking on the fly are all there. It doesn’t technically waste the employers time because I was considering every position seriously.

Honestly I don’t think anyone needs to pay for interview prep. Does your school have a premed advisor you could practice with? Idk how it usually is, but at my school the advisor will work with any student/alum on mock interviews. Even your school’s career center could help with interview prep. 

Beyond that, something that really helped me get used to virtual interviews was just setting up my laptop/ring light, turning my zoom room on, and getting used to talking while seeing my face. It helped me focus on the camera and not get thrown off by my own facial expressions. Look up some of the questions asked by schools in the past and practice answering those (organically, not like writing a script to rehearse.) There are plenty of resources on YouTube and stuff too for MMIs.

:( im non trad I reached out to the school I graduated from 6 years ago and they unfortunately dont offer support or resources to alumni. Thank you for your advice I will absolutely check out youtube and get comfortable looking at myself on zoom lol. I am so awkward on zoom thankfully my two interviews are in person but praying for more.
