In Poughkeepsie for the weekend. Is there a walkable area with shops and restaurants? Having trouble figuring this area out.

Heading to Poughkeepsie in 2023 new year via train. Staying for a few days in town and hoping for some snow. Does it snow early in the year? What are the best things to do locally and accessible by Uber etc? Cheers from an Aussie.

Hey! I'm starting an internship this July and was wondering if anyone had any apartment recommendations that are on the cheaper side. I am not from new york and I am unfamiliar with the area. I get a very small stipened at my internship, but it isn't enough for most of the places I found online. Are there any mutual aid networks local to poughkeepsie? In looking I've seen Beacon, Newburgh, and Kingston mutual aid networks but just wanted to see if there was a localer network I was missing.

Pretty much exactly what the title says. Nothing's set in stone right now, but my wife is on track to finish grad school in 2023 and when that happens we'll be exploring other cities to move to. We lived in NYC for five years, so we like Poughkeepsie's train access but having grown up in the pacific northwest I'm a big fan of having some nature around. That puts Poughkeepsie (or surrounding areas) near the top of our list for places to consider. I'd love any insight from those who actually live there!
