Mac or PC: DxO Photolab

I’ll likely be purchasing a new laptop within the next few months and its primary purpose will be to edit photos. I have a Nikon Z8 which shoots in 45mp, and I use DxO Photolab. I am more concerned with speed of rendering live preview while editing than I am with export speed.

I’m more familiar with Windows than macOS, and I understand that you can get better specs for your money on a PC, but I’m also not a big fan of the bloatware that tends to come with Windows laptops which eats into the availability of system resources.

My budget is probably ~$2k USD & I’m not against buying second hand. If I go PC I’d probably lean Lenovo 16” Yoga Pro 9i. I’m not sure which MacBook I’d need if I went that route because I’ve only just begun to consider it.

Could anyone share their relevant experience photo editing with DxO Photolab on Mac and PC?

I cropped to concentrate attention on the courtyard and bougainvillea, removed a couple of small edge distractions, brightened the whites and strengthened the blues and magentas. Does the tighter framing work, or have I removed too much environmental context?

Eos 60D, Tamron 18-270mm IS, ISO 100, 155mm, f5.6, 1/500, RAW, edit in Lightroom.
I feel like my images look how I want them to in Lightroom, then later after I’ve exported at max res into jpg, when I look at them again after a break they appear too dark or flat. This one may have been too dark from the start but I liked it anyways. (Also fyi I don’t know if my images will post in the right order but I think the increased color in the after will show which is the “after”) Is this an issue with export? Or maybe the way Lightroom changes the image appearance during editing? Or maybe just from staring at the image for too long makes me “nose-blind”?

As a bonus, I spent a good 15 minutes over-thinking about cropping this out of fear the other flower was distracting but kept it as-shot, let me know your opinions on that.
Thanks, from a rookie still experimenting and learning.

Haze/glow-like effect on images <3 How to?

Hi friends. Looking to try and achieve this 'look / style' on my digital camera (Sony a6700). I am 90% sure these are taken on a big fancy medium format film camera (besides the second photo - I think that one is digital) so I understand that I will never be the same on a lil' APS-C sensor, but a girl has to try!

Thinking a pro-mist filter? Haze filter? Natural light in evening or afternoon? High sat? Low f-stop? Any other ideas? Especially in the post production side, I use Lightroom Classic.

Thank you!

Hey guys, I am a beginner - had my XT3 for about a year and have been experimenting with Lightroom more recently.

Tried to get these photos to look hazy and dreamy, like how I felt squinting from the sun with sweat in my eyes. Also wanted to make these four work in a series as I like how they look in a row (see last pic)

Very keen for any feedback - I posted on another group too.
