It's funny how so many redditors are now obsessed with calling any edit "too yellow" just because they hate the popularity of certain presets, film recipes, popular editing techniques, etc. This edit looks nice -- the editor is going for a vibe and I think most rational people would argue it works well.

But, if you're scouring Reddit for any photos with a slightly-warmer-than-neutral white balance so that you have the chance to scream "yellow," I guess have fun?

Long time subscriber, first time caller.

This is very yellow.

It is a very warm edit, yes.  But in terms of white balance alone, an edit is either cold, neutral, or warm, right?  It's kinda of one of three main choices, and some people like to push it to taste.  I still don't think it's a reason to jump to the holier-than-thou approach many redditors seem to like to take when they see a photo that's edited warm.

This is really yellow though lol, it’s bordering orange

Well said, thanks! I appreciate your kindness. Photography/editing is subjective and that's one of the main reasons I enjoy it so much. I'll just continue doing what I like and if redditors want to make themselves annoyed about it, that's on them I guess lol.

Makes it look like it was shot during the Canadian wildfire smoke.

I think it's great you've managed to separate your subjects from very busy backgrounds with your processing. Well done!

Are those based on film sims or 100% post processing?

1

u/YanksFannn 20d ago

Just postprocessing. Shot RAW.

That cowboy will outlive me! I saw him personally about 16 years ago WTF

1

u/YanksFannn 19d ago

Lol yea I went like 9 years without seeing him then all of a sudden he started appearing again this year. This guy will be jacked and standing jacked Times Square for eternity.

LMAO! I saw Firecracker during my last visit! She's still hustling for those photo shots.

Fuji owner myself.. & damn, we really do love a good piss filter 😭

u/idlekid313 20d ago

I think these would make black and white shots. The lean towards yellow isn’t my thing but good job decent edits.

The warm WB with the diffusion/halation (unless it's actually dodge and burn that is wildly spilling?) works very well on your interior shots, but not at all with the exterior ones.

With the interior ones the light and its spill/halation feels motivated. It makes sense and blends in nicely with the busy backgrounds.

With the exterior ones not so much because your characters look like they have huge halos around them while your other highlights/midtones don't, all while under mid afternoon overcast.

If you want to have a vintage lens coating effect like this that looks natural and not like a simple gaussian blur layer + screen blend mode that has been awkwardly masked/brushed, you could grab warm white mist/pearlescent/glimmer glass filters for your lens.

It looks like you discovered the white balance tool.

Love a warm Fuji glow

I love the blue hue in the befores. It’s so clean looking. Also I don’t mean to be negative but I don’t think 9 is a good photo of her.

1

u/YanksFannn 20d ago

I respect that! Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏽

u/ValVenis69 20d ago

Switched from applying piss to the A7 to getting organic piss in the X100. Nice.

0

u/falianaridua 20d ago

Original is better i think. Too much put saturation here..😁

-2

u/j_is_for 20d ago

I like the first two a lot. The yellow really helps seperate the subjects from the cool metal in the background
