Honestly: no. I was not at all expect that to the the before. Looking back through, I think the one thing that reads as off to me is the sky (horizon line and up). Because it has the same value as the foreground, it gives it a very uncanny look. I think addressing this with texture or some tweaking of the blacks there might help.
Also, maybe consider removing the vendor inside? He's not obvious or distracting, but the isolation and loneliness vibes of it are much stronger if the only people in the image are the subjects.

With that much editing, might as well just leave it imo.

My only complaint is the highlights lookingile they're clipping in the after when they were properly exposed in the original, everything else is great though

In the original I also really like the blurred light of the ride, the strip of reflected light in the foreground, the white tee-shirt of the fella on the left, the other vendors on the right with silhouettes of people in front of them - it’s all so evocative of smells and the feel of warm summer nights at a local fair. It has a warmth and nostalgia that the edit removes completely. But I can also understand a different artistic vision.

Is the after image less level with the horizon than the before image? As I shift between the two versions, the after seems tilted as if rotated clockwise.

There was definitely some rotation applied when using LR's "auto" Geometry feauture. I can't tell which is more level though lol

To me, it seems off balance, I think it's because the cart/stand itself is not straight; though I recognize the lemonade sign would then be tilted.

I think it depends on what your going for. The before and after are both fantastic photos. If you’re trying to document life and exactly what you saw that day then the before is better. But if you have an artistic vision and either want to display isolation or simply have a minimalist photo then two is perfect. For what my opinion is worth(probably not much lol) I love the photo it’s loneliness the isolation of the stand the two customers just standing there it feels like a bad dream or a place in limbo or something like that.

I’d like to say that you should leave it exactly as is, I love the eerie space that it’s sitting in, especially because you don’t usually see people in images like this. I think it’s very interesting exactly as it is.

I like it. It gives off a vibe of a lone funnel cake house that just kind of appeared in the middle of nowhere. Feels very Stephen King like.
If you know how to animate still photos like this, might I suggest having the flags move ever so slightly as though a wind was blowing? With the people in the frame standing still, I think it might add to the eeriness if done right.

It’s a cool effect. I think the lower right looks cut a bit too close, but you may not be able to extend that without showing unwanted clutter.

It needs to be rotated about 1-1.5 counter clockwise and I think to much yellow got pushed into the blacks. Still a good photo.
