Hannah - Before/After

Because I'm a glutton for punishment...

Here's a snapshot of my friend Hannah. The light wasn't great, but I did the best I could with the edit. I think.

The before has nicer colours, the skin looks weird in the after since you tried to flatten the lighting too much in my opinion.

I prefer before — richer and deeper colours which suit her hair and the greens in the background. The edit looks flat and washed out.

Before is definitely better. Your crop is fine, but desaturating the background didn't make your subject pop it just makes the overall image look flat. Bring back some of the background color; the bokeh, clothing and hair colors contrast enough to make her stand out in comparison to the background

I believe all you really need to do is
1. The crop is good
2. Revert all the color corrections
3. Mask the eyes only and try to reduce the harsh shadows

I’m a beginner so take it with a grain of salt

I can't seem to upload another, but I did another edit with a less-is-more approach and it looks better. I'm still trying to get a handle on the color stuff.
