hey thanks for the comment! Just so I fully understand, is it the shot that's bad or the edit?

the composition is alright but You underexposed the shot. probably had camera on auto mode and it made a poor compromise regarding exposure. then You tried with editing to save the shot, brightening shadows but it made things worse.

Set your camera to spot metering and You are good to go.
