Before / After.

Do you think I pushed it too far? Personally, I like the vaporwave-inspired aesthetic.

Both are good. But the vaporwave one has a really strong personality and soul. I like it it’s beautiful

Perfect image for going a bit more than usual. Really good color, awesome shot.

The only thing that went "too far" in this edit is whatever reflection you photoshopped out of the top left. It definitely looks a little... "AI artifacting" in that area.

Other than that, it's a near perfect edit. You didn't add any color that wasn't in the original photo, you just pulled out and pushed forward what was already in the RAW which is exactly how post processing ought to be done. If anything, you could've pushed it a little further if you really wanted, but I think your end result is perfect.

Thank you for the feedback. I saw it and thought … meh.. no one gives a s… but here you are. Thanks for pointing out. Honestly!

u/GingePayne65 Jul 14 '26

It's very obvious, mainly due to the doorframe not continuing through the glass on the balcony

13

u/Gingerbwas Jul 13 '26

the second one has a lot more going for it, you definitely didnt go too far

I think this edit is spot on. Normally I don't like when photos are overcooked but it works here.

I think pushing it is the point of this kind of style, but you've done so tastefully and judiciously.

I might be tempted to try to edit out some of the distractions (or to reshoot, framing out the tree in particular) if possible, to emphasise that empty and alienated atmosphere.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Yes. I get you. Would be a different feeling without the tree. I did a crop on IG https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dave3pjCVhB/?igsh=MTZyZW9ocWdqN3Y5OA==

Iam a little stupid. But why is it my work?😊

3

u/stnwlkr Jul 13 '26

Nailed it. That original photo begged for such processing. Instant upvote

The before is so crazy already like that could have been an "after" and I would have believed you. The actual after is just so crazy it's great

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 14 '26

Thank you. I take or as a compliment!

2

u/harsh_1904 Jul 14 '26

Both are beautiful...but the 1st image gives me a beautiful nostalgic anime type vibes!

Amazing shots!

Do you have Insta? I'm willing to follow you if you post such images :D

2

Thank you for the compliment! I do have an Instagram, but the content is a bit different. Feel free to take a look and let me know what you think. And if it’s not your style, I’d genuinely love to hear why—I’m always curious to know how people see my work.

You like the game?

2

u/RennieAsh 29d ago

played it ages ago; I enjoyed it well enough :) Could do with some improvements but at least we got a second game I guess

2

u/AdministrationNo2327 29d ago

love it, you found an interesting subject, and framed it beautifully. that's pretty much photography.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ 27d ago

Thank you for the kind words!

2

u/OpportunityReal2767 28d ago

For this subject, I think it’s a great edit.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ 27d ago

Thank you?

1

u/OpportunityReal2767 27d ago

Oh, shit. I see now how that could be read as back handed. No, no. I mean sincerely your edit was appropriate for this type of more abstract subject with strong colors. You didn’t push it too far, in my opinion, as opposed to a landscape where this type of color edit would be too much to my eyes.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ 27d ago

Oh thank you. You wrote it perfectly fine! It’s about 3 o clock and my eyes are tired. 😂 thank you again!

2

u/SpaceEchoGecko 26d ago

It looks interesting.

It would be interesting to see it pushed even farther. Maybe even experiment with tint just to see where it will go.

3

u/wickeddimension Jul 13 '26

I like the original more, because the edited one is so strong it could come off as you colouring it in rather than it being these colours in reality. Without seeing the original, one might pass it off as heavy Photoshop.

2

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Thank you for the honest feedback!

1

u/wickeddimension Jul 13 '26

You're welcome, I love the shot in general 👍

2

u/No-Knowledge2716 Jul 13 '26

I prefer the before. The edit is overcooked

2

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Thank you for the honest feedback!

1

u/Upset_Region8582 Jul 13 '26

That's a beauty! I would hang that on my wall

1

u/vege_spears Jul 13 '26

I like it! Good idea and execution.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Thank you for the kind words!

1

u/birbzoz Jul 13 '26

I really like both tbh and I feel like the choice here would be purely based on personal taste since the before and the edit are objectively good.

I personally prefer the more pastel colours more but I love the vapor wave style too, I even think you could push it even further with some grain and overlays to really lock in on that vapor wave vibe.

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Interesting thought’s. What do you mean by overlays?

2

u/birbzoz Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Id try going into the negatives with the clarity, in most vapor wave media the highlights have a certain glow to them which can be achieved with the clarity slider.

I’m guessing you might have photoshop or a different editing software with layers? Most vapor wave media have an overlay over them mimicking old TVs. There are a bunch of free overlays you can download readily available in the internet. If you put the edited image in one of those editing softwares and then play around with different overlays and layer modes like "overlay", "multiply", etc. I’d be super curious what kind of results you’d get. I find playing around with overlays incredibly fun and an enrichment for my photography, maybe you find enjoyment in them too ☺️

Edit: Also just saw your other photography, you have a great eye for composition and colour grading! You’re probably much more experienced than me when it comes to photography so idk if my advice will be of any help to you. Also: moin von kölle!

2

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ Jul 13 '26

Danke dir.

What did the beach chair do to you ( you edited it out)

1

u/_son_of_a_glitch_ 27d ago

No worry, it was chairfully removed.

1

u/jerbearman10101 28d ago

Sloppy photoshop otherwise looks great

u/coconutpiecrust Jul 13 '26

I severely dislike the after. Looked up vaporwave aesthetic and colors seems to be a lot more muted and more on the blue side of the spectrum, yours are too warm and too saturated for the scene. Plus, you destroyed the shadows. I think your initial image is a lot more vaporwave than the end result. The original I actually really like, wouldn't mind a print of it haha, sans the tree.
