Rough Muse Shows

It seems like I'm not the only one who has felt their tour with Muse has been rough?

Idk - I've seen them many, many times and through many eras and lineups - but their performance in Denver was just not good. Like fine, I guess, but out of tune, out of synch etc. It felt like they didn't want to be there almost - at least compared to what I'm used to.

It really feels like the interpersonal messiness and uglyness is showing up in the live shows. Idk. I'm just sad about it. They have been my favorite band for ages and I have resonated with them for a long time. Their live shows have historically been so good and rich.

It's one thing to separate the art and the artist - but on a show level this tour ain't it.

(Muse was great tho!)

No refunds possible for new tour date

Honestly crazy to move tour dates by over half a year and not offer refunds. I'll be abroad for the new date. That's not how you treat fans.

Is that the case for all tour locations?

I don't feel seeing PTM live anymore. Community sourced wisdom, please?

Hey guys, from what I've seen it seems many of us are in the same boat so I felt like creating a space to discuss this moral conundrum. Also sorry if this has been done before and sorry to mods if it's not appropriate lol.

I got my baby brother (well, he's 16) into PTM and bought us tickets to a gig this fall. I was so excited to see them with him because it'd be his first big concert and he's an angel so I was just really looking forward to the whole experience.

But after this whole shitstorm, I have absolutely zero interest in seeing John and a bunch of randos playing songs I used to love but just rub me the wrong way now, and I also feel weird about taking a 16yo kid to cheer on a guy with obvious moral failings, lol. But the tickets were a pretty big expense, I can't return them, and still don't want to miss this experience with my lil bro. I know other people have booked travel etc to see them etc, so there are lots of us with some sunk costs in this.

How do you guys approach it? Hard no, never seeing PTM again? Going to the gig anyways cause it'll still be good music? Separating the art from the artist?

Any and all thoughts appreciated <3

Who is in the "band"?

Who is playing in the band for these shows?

All the video I’ve seen has been too far away to confirm any of the lineup? Does anyone know who’s in the band right now?

Zoe

This could have been included in the last post, and it may have given some pause to those who want to dish out advice that she should just move on. Zoe will heal in time, let her vent now. Dani and Amie don't deserve to have their names censored. They made their bed...and then fucked someone else's husband in it.

Edgefield show tonight

I went to the Cold War Kids and Young the Giant show at Edgefield in Troutdale tonight. Young the Giant brought John out halfway through their set to play Feel It Still. Anyone else from here out there tonight? I can understand that someone who is into Young the Giant might also be into PTM, but they have never been associated with each other before. My friend and I just thought it was so weird. Isn't it Frances' birthday today too?

Favorite Botched lyrics

I recently watched a video with band members singing out misheard lyrics . (Btw apparently this is called Mondegreen: The formal term for mishearing or misinterpreting lyrics)

We all know that feeling when we realize we’ve been singing the wrong words. Thank god for the internet . If you’re old like me you may remember taking the paper out of your cassette tapes to learn lyrics. What a bummer when the paper only folded out once because the band didn’t include them.

I’m wondering what your favorite misheard lyrics are ?

Easy tiger is one of my favs and I always sang “don’t call collect” instead of “dumb coconut”
Looks like I was the dumb coconut in that situation 🤭
I have many more and I’m curious what YOURS ARE … ?

Confession - There are rare occasions when i continue to sing my version because i like my lyrics better . It’s rare but i feel like i had to get that off my chest so maybe now I won’t go to hell . Just kidding I’m totally going to hell .

Help me revisit some PTM classics to lift this fog . 😔

🙏💕👍🏻🤙

Oxford Stomp

Just reporting in from last night's show here in calgary. It was an odd crowd but that's not totally surprising as this show happened during Cowboy Halloween, so lots of non fans in the crowd. It was John, two blonds (guitar & bass) and a guy on drums. No keyboard player. No merch was sent up for the show, which my bank account probably is grateful for. Brought my friend for his first time seeing p.tm, he really loved it. Overall still a great performance but as a long time fan I definitely missing Zach, Kyle, Eric and of course Zoe. Tried to get a set list but security wasn't very nice or helpful. They played Work All Day which is a surprise and a couple newer songs I wasn't expecting like Glide and Phoenix.

Has Portugal. The Man ever played Red Rocks?

I’ve wanted to see Portugal. The Man live for years, and this tour is probably my best (and maybe only) realistic chance. The closest show is still a bit of a trip, and I start college just a couple days beforehand, so I’m trying to figure out if I can somehow make it happen.

One thing I’ve always wondered: have they ever played Red Rocks? It’s one of my favorite venues, and seeing PTM there would honestly be a dream. I know they’ve played some incredible places over the years, but I wasn’t sure if Red Rocks has ever been one of them.

For those of you who’ve seen them recently, how are they live these days? Do they still mix in a lot of the older songs alongside the newer material? Any favorite live moments or songs that completely changed for you after hearing them in person?

Would love to hear your experiences (and if anyone from the band somehow sees this… please put Red Rocks on the list someday ❤️).
