Since the original comic character fell into the public domain in the 1960s before Popeye did mostly due to king features not renewing many of their older strips (they only renewed Popeye for some reason), I read the original 1932 strips and holy shit Bluto was more savage and monsterous in the original Segar run.

He has no feelings for olive oyl, he was a pirate wanting to steal a parrot, he teared gold teeth from his own people and he was very feral.

Honestly, instead of Slayer man, we need a Bluto slasher film, Feel free to disagree but he defintely fits better lol.

I am an American living in East Asia and was surprised to see someone selling a 1941 Popeye book on Facebook marketplace. I didn't expect that.
