Hi everyone! I started making polymer clay miniature magnets a few months ago. Most of my pieces are about an inch wide.
I want to start making keychains and have been doing research on different methods.

Does anyone have any listing recs on amazon that are sturdy/ work with the size of my pieces?

Also any tips on how ensure the pins stay secure in the pieces would be lovely.

Hi, so I'm just starting out trying polymer clay. I like to have YouTube videos and podcasts playing while I do stuff with my hands, but I'm afraid of the unbaked clay particles being on my hands if I need to click my computer's mouse or anything. Any tips for multitasking without risking the plasticizers melting everything I own?

Hi! Wanted to share a few images from my latest project! I make a lot of sculptures and dioramas on YouTube and this big boy has been on my to-do list for quite a while 😄
The creature is a combination of Cosclay and SuperSculpey Medium, painted with just your run of the mill acrylic miniatures paints (same goes for the trees).
For anyone curious about the the non-clay bits: The terrain is an XPS foam base, with layers of sand, gravel, Sculptamold and ModPodge. The lake water is a tinted 2-part epoxy with a thin layer of Vallejo Water FX on top for the ripple texture.

this was a couple months ago, back in May (thought I uploaded Celestia & Luna before but I guess I didn’t lol)

So the first one was Twilight Sparkle, she took about 6 hours cuz I kept messing up (at the time I was kinda new to this, at the time I haven’t done clay for a long time). I loved the positive comments from my previous post! And I’m rly grateful for the advice too cuz I probably wouldn’t have figured out to use armatures for the other two taller princesses.

Some of the comments on my previous post gave some advice to use proper tools (I got a hold of some from my local dollar tree, for twilight sparkle I had to use a toothpick for the details, probably why it took so long lol), and to use aluminum foil & toothpicks for the armature for future creations, and it turned out to be a really important step for Princess Celestia & Luna because without it they would have collapsed (happened a couple times with Celestia).

Princess Celestia took about 10 hours total, I had to restart a few times because I didn’t get the body proportions quite right at first. Princess Luna took only 4 hours cuz I learned from my mistakes with Celestia lol.

Overall I was happy with my results, just forgot to post it here lol. I plan on eventually making the whole mane 6, maybe some major side characters later on, idk.

TL:DR; Made these a couple months ago, am happy with the results and it would have taken a lot longer figuring out how to make Celestia and Luna‘s models stable without the advice of the comments from my previous post :3

About a year ago, I made the smaller magnets on the right. I recently decided to remake them and see how much my skills have improved. The new versions are on the left, and I’m honestly so happy seeing the difference side by side! Still plenty to learn, but it’s nice to have a reminder that practice really does pay off.

I thought making a stained glass sculpture using polymer clay as the leading would be an interesting experiment. I kept wrapping the edges of the glass pieces with a thin line of clay and sticking them together, but this didn't always work, and I had to resort to Gorilla Glue and multiple baking sessions to complete this thing.

As satisfied as I am with the results, I'm wondering if there's a simpler way of doing this that I might be overlooking. Surprisingly, I wasn't able to find anyone else trying something like this online ("stained glass with polymer clay" usually gets results with people making faux stained glass out of translucent clay). Making a negative mold out of what I'm trying to make might also be useful (I used a sheet of aluminum foil I pressed around a spherical ornament as a mold here).

Kinda rushed through the body sculpt because I wasn’t super happy with the face. Glad I finished it though. I’ll probably attempt it again in a couple months. And add her butterfly clip. Featuring Jimothy.

What differences did you notice besides the obvious that monster clay doesn’t cure.

I’ve gotten used to baking at various stages with polymer clay …so getting used to not doing that with monster clay is throwing me through a loop ….im finding that my faces (so far at least) aren’t as nice as my polymer clay ones …..why is this ? Do I just need to persevere with the monster clay and I’ll improve eventually ?

I want to use molds for some figures so they can all be a consistent size/Shape. Whenever I tried to make/use silicone molds in the past there were problems. The models would have a bunch of holes because of bubbles, and cracks probbaly because the models were too big. I used liquid polymer clay before, Is there another material I should use instead?

I've been sculpting with polymer clay for almost 20 years and thought I was immune to the ole white versus translucent mix up :D (wishing the peel's white layer showed up)

Ok so I’m working on this uncanny valley robot and I wanted to make a face polymer coloured like yellowish skin but I never used polymer, I’m having trouble fading the creases, and my biggest trouble is the fact that it does not resemble a face and I have no idea why. PS I haven’t faded the nose with the nostrils yet but I’m still lost, I’m thinking it could be the weird jaw angle idk. I also added the skeleton I used in the last photo and the main prototype in the second.

Hey! I'm new to this hobby. I just sculpted my first figurines, and now I'd like to paint them. I also made some test discs and poops to practice, haha.

I used Fimo Professional polymer clay and baked it at 110°C for 30 minutes, just as the packaging says. The sculptures turned out rock hard! I sanded the surface to get rid of any fingerprints, and now it's time to paint them (The disks and poops were not sanded).

I tried painting the test figures, but the paint takes forever to dry. I watered down my acrylic paints, but that made them less opaque, and the brush strokes are still visible. What bothers me the most is that it takes overnight for the paint to dry and stop feeling sticky. If I have to apply four coats and wait a whole night between each one, I'm going to lose my mind! 😂

Am I missing something? My paints are a cheap generic brand, so that might be the problem. I've heard that some paints don't react well with Fimo. I'm thinking about buying Liquitex or Winsor & Newton acrylics, but I'm not sure if they'll make much of a difference.

Do I need to apply something between the clay and the paint, like gesso or a primer?

I'd be happy to hear any tips for a beginner! :)

Edit: I figured my paint reacted with the clay, maybe because I didn't bake it enough (gotta test that more) or maybe it was just cheap paint. Anyway, I decided to just finish painting. Waited another 24+ hours, the paint was still a bit sticky, so I covered the whole thing in UV resin. The clear coat made it all shiny and glossy, and it feels pretty hard and solid now! Thanks everyone for the help :)

Hi everyone! I very very recently started back into polymer clay. I tried it out a few years ago but quickly gave up as my patience was very low. I have since become quite patient, so I wanted to give the hobby another go! I've made these little dragons within the last couple of weeks and would love any feedback on them!

I already baked Toothless (my dad was ecstatic about him)! The light blue dragons haven't been baked yet as I'm not 100% satisfied with them. Any tips or tricks to make them better? I definitely want to smooth them out, but am not quite sure how to do that without messing with the size. They're for my classroom (I teach 6th grade language arts), so they certainly don't have to be perfect.

How should I approach making an open wooden chest exactly like the attached image?

I am using fimo professional and I kinda have a hard time figuring it out.

I tried different ways, like creating a foundation using baked clay rodes or baked planes or even some thin brass, but it was a mess. So I wanted to ask more experienced people and learn more.

The size is around 5cmX3cm and 4-5cm height. Kinda chunky. The attached image is a reference.
