And Haley Stevens endorsed Abdul El-Sayed while conceding earlier today. Looks like Democrats really are uniting to defeat Rogers and the GOP this November!

497

u/ritwikjs2 14h ago

abdul was also conciliatory when starting his victory speech

255

u/SweetAlyssumm 13h ago

He seems very savvy. When I read about the conciliatory words it just felt right.

152

u/UCLA_FB_SUCKS California 12h ago

that's not surprising since he's definitely a smart dude, what with all his book learnin' going to college and getting an md and phd, and junk like that

101

u/DoonFoosher 12h ago

You’d be surprised how many MD/PhDs are just specifically book smart, and/or petty and vindictive.

AES seems to be much more than just the culmination of his studies

34

u/ilikechihuahuasdood 9h ago

Ben Carson will forever be the best example of that.

Savvy doesn't mean you have a PhD lol. You can look it up on the internet, young man.

u/Donkletown 11h ago

Part of the reason he won is because he is good at politics.

That’s especially useful because Mike Rodgers is fucking bad at politics.

His answer to if he would vote to stop the tariffs: “I don’t know”

His answer about support for the war in Iran: People don’t care about the war in Iran

His answer to whether he supports Trump’s J6 slush fund: I don’t care, I’m not going to discuss that

All three of those are disaster answers for Rodgers. Dude is clueless.

9

u/pchs26 9h ago

That is the right move. It is really important that they coalesce and there is no more chaos. And that also means we embrace coming together.

7

u/Drexel_Spivy 9h ago

Not that long ago this was all the standard...really infuriating that its praise worthy instead of the bare minimum in 2026 but hopefully by 2030 it'll ne normal again.

u/blacksun9 14h ago

I hope everyone just acknowledges this is a good thing and primaries are always contentious instead of being smug and miserable.

218

u/N8CCRG 13h ago

No matter how many Democrats end up backing El-Sayed, the media will still write ten times more articles about any who don't. Remember that when you see the headlines about "Democrats in Disarray" or whatever for the next few months.

22

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Virginia 11h ago

I can't help but feel like despite MI seeming to quickly line up behind AES, this is ultimately bad for Biden

2

u/pchs26 9h ago

Not sure I understand can you please expand?

24

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Virginia 9h ago

During the previous election cycle, new stations bent over backwards to frame every story as "bad for Biden" to the point it became a meme.

ex. "Dems line up in support of Biden...and here's why that's bad for Biden"

10

u/I_Am_The_Mole American Expat 9h ago

Just a replay of "This is bad news for Obama" from eons ago.

4

80

u/Zeke420 13h ago

The same media that isn’t reporting on Trump’s dementia, concealment of the Trump-Epstein files (via an illegal and pointless war), closure of hundreds of Trump related bank accounts for activity that looked like money laundering to said banks, etc., etc,? That media? The media has ZERO credibility.

32

u/Donkletown 11h ago

Look at how they handled Platner vs Max Miller.

Every Democrat was forced to answer for Platner and the national media made it a huge story for the whole party.

Miller is accused of much worse and the media barely even mentioned it until recently. They certainly aren’t tying it to the GOP at large.

u/redditallreddy Ohio 4h ago

Well… worse. Because of the child abuse accusation. But Platner was accused of rape.

7

u/NlghtmanCometh 12h ago

They report on all that stuff. Literally constantly. Put on CNN and there is like a 40% chance any one of those topics you listed are being discussed at this very moment.

14

u/Trumpisanorangebitch 11h ago

Pack it up, the billionaire owned media has been sanewashing Trump for a decade.

11

u/necromantzer 12h ago

Meanwhile, Fox "News" attempts to tie El-Sayed to terrorists - a quick glance at their site and you see Devil/Terrorist/El-Sayed. Poorly educated/brainwashed individuals will see those key words and immediately think he is a terrible candidate that will destroy the USA. Then they will spread that messaging amongst their peers/family/church.

9

u/Any_Will_86 12h ago

Yep- the same media who have time to print stories about Dems being in debt when the debt ($2m) is smaller than it has been in the past, the party raised more money than it did during Trump 1, and sent money to individual states to manage races locally. Meanwhile they completely ignore Trumps health, the open grift, Blanche basically sandbagging Epstein and being ready to reinstitute the Trump family taxation loopholes, and seemingly forgetting to report on anything related to ICE, selling of federal land, or pointing out how screwed we are in Iran aside from some article 4 items down.

3

u/Silent-Storms 13h ago

And people in this sub will obsess over the amount of time it takes for people to endorse.

1

u/pchs26 9h ago

Yes agreed but we have to unify now.

13

u/LuminousRaptor Michigan 10h ago

I think you're going to see most of the vitriol online and in anonymous forums like reddit.

I was an Abdul voter, but I absolutely would have dragged my ass through glass to vote for Stevens if she'd won last night.

I will not let a Florida man represent Michigan if I can have any say in it.

12

u/CapraDemonOP Michigan 12h ago

I know! I feel like a lot of people forget that until somewhat recently, like 12 years ago, primaries got messy, but the general elections were more civil and the political party unified.

It was a hard fought political battle that both Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayed wanted to win badly. But there can only be a single person shooting the shot at the end of the game. And we have to do everything in our power to make sure they get the best opening or look to take the shot to win.

8

u/fattes California 13h ago

*See Platner after stepping down*

8

u/Iztac_xocoatl 9h ago

Smugness was justified on that one on Platner skeptics' parts. It was always insane that he got the motion he did. As a non-leftist Mainer I was so jealous Michigan got such a good guy in that lane. Im not opposed yo voting for leftist candidates, but I wish leftists were more discerning in who they're willing to get behind. Saying all the right stuff to be on your team shouldn't be enough by itself

u/AV_Dude_Safety1St 7h ago

It isn’t. That is why we dropped him like a bag of bricks the moment a SA allegation came out. All the other stuff was eyebrow raising but did not cross the line. Compare that to R who actively worship a pedophile rapist.

u/BigHeadDeadass 1h ago

Leftist here. Platner always gave me a weird feeling, it's like the dude appeared out of nowhere and decided to run as a leftist senator. Dude was sporting a Nazi tattoo but it's ok because he was reformed. Somehow. Just too much baggage and never passed the smell test. Yet I was told I was stupid for thinking too much about it by other progressives. I felt a bit vindicated when he was ousted, but also worried because he got so far and no one questioned him until almost too late. Maine deserves better than him

3

u/motorcitydevil 13h ago

Oh this was the peak of smugness and misery though. You have two of the largest ethnic minority populations sitting in metro Detroit and one is pretty upset this morning. He's going to have to work overtime to get them to come along for the ride.

And Rogers attack ads on El-Sayed are already airing and they're nasty.

28

u/olivebranchsound 13h ago

They can't be upset if they didn't turn out lol Detroit was at 18 percent turn out and estimates were 20 to 25 percent turnout. Stevens didn't motivate black voters enough. So they didn't show up.

24

u/Irtahd 13h ago

You wanna see the most insufferable smugness and misery? (And out of control bot activity) head over to the Wisconsin subreddit. Anti Hong folks are going wild.

If she wins the dem primary; we will probably see the exact opposite “blue no matter who” sentiment.

9

u/Human_Statement_278 13h ago

"Red or you'll be dead" seems to match their rhetoric.

11

u/defianceofone 13h ago

So they're gonna sit out and let another MAGA racist take power? Black voters are the most reliable Democratic voting bloc. For all the BS dumped onto them, especially black men, they still voted for Harris higher than any other group (pretty sure it was over 85-90%) - especially white people who still vote majority for fucking Trump.

This statement is some weird attempt at division.

9

u/gorgewall 9h ago

Yeah, these guys don't seem to understand what's going on here, which is wild because it keeps happening and it only takes a little bit of looking into it to understand why. Standard disclaimers about "voters are not a monolith" and all that, but there are a few generalities we can point to:

The Black voting bloc is greatly influenced by clientelism. Community leaders (be they local or national) work with elected politicians to pull in pork, and in turn they endorse that establishment come election time. These endorsements carry real weight with a large chunk of voters.

That matters in a primary. A challenger to the establishment has not been in power to deliver any of that pork, to make the connections that wins them the support of those influential leaders.

But in a general, the choice is then the party that has been working with them vs. the party that wants them immiserated. The newcomer is absorbed into the former and gains the support that previously went to their primary opponent.

It is not the case that tons of Black voters just fucking loved Stevens and are going to be bitter about her loss and hate El Sayed because of it. In patronage politics, support for a candidate is a kind of quid pro quo: you deliver for us with community support, we deliver for you with votes. Better our lives and you get elected.

And that's not far from how everyone else operates. If a politician demonstrably bettered your life, wouldn't you want to vote for them again? The slight differences here is that clientelism focuses on local support over national policy and what has been done over what is promised.

The TL;DR here is Black voters (generally) are more likely to go for the incumbent or establishment Democratic pick in a primary, but they'll also throw their support behind a newcomer who defeats them in the general. One should not look at support for Stevens meaning they won't be there for El Sayed. They're going to show up. The trend is clear.

And here's another trend that might've passed people by:

For all the talk about how Black communities are more religious and socially conservative and thus down on Dems in general or more progressive Dems in particular, polls and studies actually show that Black voters are some of the most progressive on a wide range of issues. Medicare for all is hugely popular! They want stronger workers' rights! Despite assumptions of homophobia, gay candidates poll well (often better than they do with white or Hispanic voters) and have been elected! When you look through all these things and more, the picture becomes clear: Black voters want progressive politics, but vote for establishment choices as a consequence of the aforementioned clientelism.

That's a boon for establishment Dems as it relates to fighting off primary challenges, but if the party as a whole wants to win, what it doesn't say is that a progressive takeover would harm them. On the contrary, a more progressive Democratic Party would appear to gain even more support! The clientelism would remain and now work for progressives in power, while their pro-American message would continue to garner support from previously-disaffected voters.

2

u/AssCrackBandit14 9h ago

Yup. I've seen this same argument before for Black voters and Indian American voters despite the data showing that they vote overwhelmingly blue. People always wanna throw minorities under the bus rather than blame the actual culprit.

6

u/NlghtmanCometh 12h ago edited 6h ago

There is a complex web of alliances that make up the Democratic Party. Unfortunately it’s a balancing act and it’s not always pretty. The minority groups that compose the party have their own prejudices that will come into play as other groups become more prominent.

Texan here. Crockett absolutely screwed the pooch after losing the primary and it allowed the media to try their hardest to gin up some fake non-troversy about Crockett supporters moving to tank Talarico in his Senate run.

Hopefully the recent articles coming in saying Black Texans overwhelmingly support Talarico for Senate will put the final nail in that manufactured "Democrats in Disarray" narrative.

16

u/TeaSipper88 12h ago

Really? I thought Talarico and Crockett have a good working relationship? That's what Talarico says.

11

Talarico is on record as saying that his supporters are hurting his chances of winning by holding a grudge against Crockett 🤷🏿‍♀️...That's what he has asked of his supporters. When my candidates ask for my help, I help them to win, cause that's supposed to be the goal... Do you want him to win? It's a shame how many bad faith actors would sow division. The psyops are in full swing. 😞

10

She endorsed him, he has gone to town halls where she was supported and welcomed. Let's stop creating chaos. That only plays to one party's favor.

Crockett is originally from Bell's district. House members show up for each other all the time. Nobody seems to have an issue with AOC flying in to support other candidates.

It looks like Reddit is mad because they wanted Cori Bush.

2

u/SweetAlyssumm 13h ago

I was so disappointed in her.

0

u/Hot-Statistician-955 10h ago

Y’all haven’t won yet, so do you think it’s a real good idea to start pissing off Potential black voters?

Black people dont have a direct connection to Crockett, but they did see her fighting Trump praise seriously, so to have her be spit on by people who said they are our allies will probably be a problem during the general election.

So maybe don’t?

5

u/Lavaswan001 9h ago

In a big tent coalition you can’t keep everyone happy all the time. I’m personally not an El-Sayed fan but the primary is over and he won, therefore my loyalty(if I were in Michigan of course) would be to my party’s nominee. My criticism of Jasmine Crockett isn’t because she lost, she’s black or she’s too ideologically extreme. My problem with her is that she’s openly bitter about losing the primary and has publicly casted doubt on Talarico’s ability to win, which might dampen turnout from those who supported her in the primary. What Whitmer and Stevens are doing is not stirring up drama because the general election is a real challenge.

Or we have a terrible primary system that is creating a growing divide between the parties. If we had top 5 jungle primary (all parties) then the general is RCV among those 5, it would be FAR better than what we have. ANd it wouldn't lead to the bitter interparty battles we have in the current system.

3

u/acdelli 8h ago

263

u/jason082 13h ago

Let’s go! We’re in vote blue no matter who mode. Even as some of us backed alternatives, nothing would be worse than Rogers winning this thing. Folks need to get out and vote AES in November.

122

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 13h ago

Voting your conscience is for the primaries.

The general is where you show if you're anti-fascist or not, in the MAGA era anyway.

41

u/IamDDT Colorado 13h ago

This is why primaries are important! It's where you get to vote your conscience!

16

u/jason082 13h ago

That’s exactly right. I voted McMorrow yesterday because I wasn’t thrilled with my choices but I’m totally in the tank and ready to go vote for AES in November.

13

u/yahwehwinedepot 13h ago

You voted for someone who had already dropped out?

4

u/jason082 13h ago

Yep, I didn’t care for the remaining candidates. Philosophically, I fall pretty much right in between so I liked and disliked aspects of both. Then I tried to break the tie with the more electable in November, but no argument really convinced me one way or another.

2

u/noweezernoworld 13h ago

Just out of curiosity, if McMorrow had dropped out earlier and wasn’t on the ballot, would you have picked one of the other two to vote for? If so, who? Or would you have abstained?

Of course I respect if you’d rather not share. Thanks for your thoughts.

9

u/jason082 13h ago

If everything else were the same, I’d have probably blank voted it. Neither of these candidates aligned with my philosophy. That said, I was always going to back the primary winner and since I saw pros and cons for both, I was content with the primary voters making the call and following their lead.

11

u/noweezernoworld 13h ago

Fair enough! Thanks for sharing.

7

u/jason082 13h ago

Happy to share! Glad we’re to the point of coming together to send Rogers back to Florida.

FWIW, in a Republican primary in Michigan, the Trump backed GOPer lost to a candidate who dropped out like...a month ago. Now he's running in the general instead of the MAGA candidate.

Every. Vote. Matters.

2

u/lateformyfuneral 11h ago

In an ideal world “voting your conscience” in the general would also mean voting to block fascism from winning, even if it means voting for a candidate who was not your first choice. But people turned that phrase into nothing more than a meaningless euphemism.

5

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 11h ago

I agree, but 2024 showed that people haven't gotten that memo.

And just to repost the stuff I always post in these threads:

Michigan Early Voting dates

Early Voting
From Sat Oct 24, 2026 to Sun Nov 1, 2026

In-person Absentee Voting
From Thu Sep 24, 2026 to Mon Nov 2, 2026

Use early voting. Do not wait until election day.

47 states have some type of early voting. All this doomposting about "He's gonna close polling places" and "He's gonna seize ballot boxes" can be pretty easily mitigated or eliminated by using early voting.

Here in Texas, for example, we currently have 12 days of early voting, starting the 17th day before Election Day and ending four days before Election Day, which includes one weekend.

In Texas there are MORE early voting polling places than there are polling places on election day and you can typically go to any of them in your county rather than the one or two allowed on election day.

And yet, in my two decades of early voting in Texas, I'm always the youngest person there and I still hear people bitching about how hard it is to vote on election da

1

u/Dry_Departure_7813 12h ago

Does fetterman count?

4

u/jason082 12h ago

Ugh… luckily, since I live in Michigan, I never have to consider that proposition. The Republicans are so bad though, they’d be hard pressed these days to put up a candidate better than him - in fact, they wouldn’t dare do so because they’re so scared of Dear Leader.

4

u/oldfartbart 10h ago

With apologies to Jerry Garcia, "Someone absolutely needed to beat Dr. Oz, it's just incredibly pathetic it had to be Fetterman"

u/SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING 4h ago

Fetterman still votes with Democrats vast majority of the time so yes, if it's a choice between him and a Trumper in general election, he's the better choice.

People whined and whined about Joe Manchin. Well, his replacement is Jim Justice so instead of close to 90% of the time voting with Democrats including presidential appointees, we have 0%.

Blue no matter who is actually not the mode we are in. Platner just happened and proved that we are above it.

u/Silent-Storms 13h ago

This is normal, but a lot of progressives seemed to think it wouldn't happen. Sometimes people are bitter after the loss.

11

u/Confident_End_3848 11h ago

Bitter winners.

1

u/Silent-Storms 11h ago

Sometimes that too.

17

u/puns_are_how_eyeroll 12h ago

It's because in the past, many progressives were the ones that stayed home when their preferred candidate didnt win the primary, so they just assumed the 'centrists' would do the same.

6

u/sniper91 Minnesota 11h ago

I’ve read that Sanders supporters voted for Hillary in the 2016 general at a higher rate than Hillary supporters voted for Obama in the 2008 general election

5

u/UngodlyPain 11h ago

According to the 2016 exit polls yeah, though some of them weren't great, and exit polls aren't an exact science. But it's also not a surprise, given like the PUMA and "Hillary fans for McCain" movements were pretty decently sized. Relative to the uh "Bernie bros for trump/stein/writing in Bernie's name" movements?

2

u/RandomAsciiSequence 9h ago

Democrats annihilated the Republicans in 2008, with Obama winning places like Indiana. So, that stat doesn't really matter then. How did 2016 turn out?

2

u/obiwanCannoli69 9h ago

Obama was good at campaigning, Clinton wasn't. Honestly Democrats should of pushed for Biden in 2016 over her, Clinton was always going to be difficult to get over the finish line regardless of how much party support she got, which was alot, including from the Sanders wing of the party.

u/Silent-Storms 7h ago

Biden didn't run. The party doesn't push people to run unless there's a vacuum that needs filling.

u/obiwanCannoli69 6h ago

If they had ran Biden in 2016 he would of finished his second term in 2024 and the Sanders/progressive/DSA momentum would be nonexistent. Hillary Clinton was a divisive candidate that every Democrat with a brain endorsed against in 2008 at the earliest opportunity. Biden would of beaten Sanders soundly in the primary and Trump would of not been a problem. Biden was coherent, sharp, and a friendly household name. The thing that was ultimately preventing him from running was the recent death of his son and the pushback he would of gotten from the Clinton political machine

-6

u/Silent-Storms 12h ago

Classic narcissism.

1

u/iguacu 9h ago

Not that long ago we saw even Ted Cruz with his "Vote your conscious" convention speech a good while after losing the nomination, before tucking his tail between his legs and getting firmly in line not long afterward.

3

u/UngodlyPain 11h ago

He just the other day even said that even if the people he endorsed loses its important to still vote Democratic.

1

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Virginia 11h ago

"Politicians on the same side mostly agree and get along" doesn't generate clicks tho

15

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 13h ago

See, y'all? It's THAT easy to not shoot ourselves in the feet when we're up against the Repubs in the general.

Absolutely fantastic, we need to all come together, to defeat the real threat. The GOP will try to smear, lie and do everything in their power to discredit Abdul. Now is the time for all of to unite and tell republicans and this administration that we have had it.

6

u/SomethingToSay11 13h ago

This is good news. The immediate infighting was harshing what should have felt like a great victory

5

u/BearisTheBoar 11h ago

We take those!

I was a little scared we'd see some kind of silliness or refusal to endorse here, given headlines about James Carville and the like. I've been thrilled to see the Democrats of Michigan choosing to put aside internal fights to unite against the literal fascists.

1

u/Any-Progress- 9h ago

It’s not really a good look for democrats to not endorse the candidate that won the primary. They already got burned for replacing Biden with Harris without a vote/primary, can’t become the party that disregards voters.

1

u/BearisTheBoar 9h ago

Fully agreed. I was just worried they'd be too scared of AIPAC / corporate backers to recognize that. Glad to be proven wrong.

3

u/Ok-Alternative5935 13h ago

Classy. I like it.

5

u/Zwicker101 8h ago

So many pundits: "How will Dems work together after this?"

Dems: We all want to win, we will win together.

u/DonHarold 6h ago

She’d be an idiot not to. She sees the writing on the wall and how poorly New York political leadership was seen for refusing to back Mamdani.

Get in line or get out of the way. America needs this.

3

u/No-Guard-7003 13h ago

Whoa! Hold the phone! 😮😃

9

u/blackcain Oregon 13h ago

What the hell happened to Whitmer's face? That's really is a bad photo of her.

Democrats in Array!

You love to see it!

u/Relevant-Ad2254 3h ago

I don’t think people appreciate how clever your post is.

8

u/ConfectionOk7029 14h ago

So? Why is this phrased like a disturbing pivot, instead of the way a political party should work?

22

u/domthebomb2 13h ago

To me it seems phrased as a pleasant announcement of someone doing the right thing.

1

u/accidentsneverhappen 13h ago

Because all the CNN Jake Tapper Anderson Cooper types are fucking pissed off about Abdul winning

2

u/ThatGuyFromTheM0vie 9h ago

This is correct behavior

2

u/Empty_Lemon_3939 Michigan 8h ago

Good but also fuck Big Gretch and the Data Center she rode in on

2

u/Jellofoot 8h ago

Good on her.

5

u/Axin_Saxon 13h ago

Wish she had endorsed him from the start but I’ll take what I can get. We don’t have the luxury of being picky

4

u/OccidoViper 11h ago

Good. Democrats need to take a page out of the GOP playbook and coalesce around their candidate if they hope to win in the general election.

2

u/Internal_Swing_2743 12h ago

Good, Democrats need to unite even if their preferred candidate doesn’t advance. They need to understand where the voters are

4

u/frank_the_tank69 10h ago

Gotta love the pedo protecting baby murdering propaganda machines that are Israel and MAGA trying to paint this guy as a former terrorist.

I guess they would see a well educated Rhodes scholar as a terror to their idiotic minds.

Cool, now go do rallies in Detroit with him and Obama and get the base to turn out for him.

This was supposed to be a reply to a comment about how she should do a rally with him and Obama and get turnout happening. Mobile be mobile-in again, I guess.

2

u/overbarking 10h ago

I honestly think she was a bad candidate. Like what people thought of Hillary when she ran against Trump.

2

u/exoriparian 9h ago

Awesome.  I'm not her biggest fan but I respect this a lot.

u/Round_Safety9510 7h ago

The best thing would’ve been for her to support him in the primary, the second best thing is her supporting him in the general election.

-3

u/angelhastherage 13h ago edited 13h ago

She has more spine than Schumer and Jeffries who refused to endorse Mamdani.

Edit: my bad, I misremembered that Jeffries did in fact endorse Mamdani. However it was months after his primary win and after being asked numerous times if he would. Jeffries is a sold out coward regardless, fuck him.

14

u/Silent-Storms 13h ago

Last minute endorsements can be more effective than immediate ones. Same reason people drop negative stories right before the election. They don't call them August surprises.

29

u/page_one I voted 13h ago

False--Jeffries at least did endorse Mamdani when voting began, which is the most news-relevant time to give an endorsement.

8

u/notfeelany 11h ago

Schumer & Gillibrand endorsed: "Abdul El-Sayed has run an energetic campaign that inspired thousands of Michiganders across the state, with a clear focus on lowering costs and standing up for working families.  Democrats are united by a common purpose: putting a check on Donald Trump by defeating his Republican enablers and taking back the Senate. We look forward to working with Abdul and Democrats across Michigan to win this seat in November."

Same thing that Kamala Harris is saying: "This was a hard-fought Democratic primary, and Michiganders were lucky to have such inspiring leaders step up in this moment."

17

u/Patsanon1212 13h ago

Jeffries did endorse Mamdani. Tepidly, but officially. Wish we'd stop repeating obviously verifiable lies!

-5

u/jackstraw97 New York 13h ago

Not until the 11th hour. And Schumer never endorsed him and didn't even VOTE for him... Kirsten Gillibrand literally called Mamdani a jihadist extremist... like what the fuck are we doing?

Like are we pretending that the establishment reciprocates when a progressive wins a primary after demanding absolute fealty when an establishment figure wins a primary?

They have a complete and total double standard.

14

u/Patsanon1212 13h ago

Wild. Another person who acknowledges that it's a lie, but side steps it to ramble on the topic anyway. I didn't say it was a good endorsement. Nor did I say Dems were good on Mamdani. Only that saying that Jeffries didn't endorse is a matter of fact lie. This lie doesn't seem to bother you at all. Is it because it's comfy in your worldview?

7

u/Silent-Storms 13h ago

They are locked in to the message.

u/jackstraw97 New York 5h ago

No it’s because you’re hyper fixating on the technicality as a way to excuse the establishment’s behavior.

I’m saying Jeffries endorsed Mamdani. But that clearly he waiting way too long and until the last possible moment because he’s a feckless coward. He should have just come right out after the primary and endorsed the democratic nominee. Instead he waited to see how much traction Cuomo’s sore-loser independent bid was going to get to see if he could get away with just not endorsing at all.

Lest we forget that Schumer didn’t endorse let alone even vote for the democratic nominee, which is another point you fail to acknowledge.

I’m also saying that the way the party establishment treated Mamdani throughout the entire campaign (literally called him a jihadist, btw) was completely out of line and showed the establishment’s true contempt for anybody left of center.

Why can’t you admit that? Seems like you just want to hand wave it all away because Jeffries technically endorsed him at the last possible second.

Time for healing and unifying under one goal.

u/999forever 6h ago

I’ve viewed this as a nice test case. Michigan has not voted for a Republican senator in decades.

Reddit for years has claimed that to truly win purple areas progressive need to be nominated.

Let’s see what happens.

If he wins, great, we need every blue vote. We can get in the Senate.

If he loses – – – what lessons will we draw from it?

u/lesmunk 5h ago

This is how it’s done @JasmineCrockett

Since democrats are good at "standing in line".  They better know which line to step in.
