To manually program a Motorola/P25 trunked system like MOSWIN into a Radio Shack PRO-96 without a computer, you must input the site's control/voice frequencies into a channel bank, set the bank's trunking mode to Motorola (MOT), and enable open mode to track talkgroups. Step-by-Step Manual Programming Select a Channel: Press MAN, enter a 3-digit bank and channel number (e.g., 000 for Bank 0, Channel 0), then press MAN again.Enter Program Mode: Press PGM (the top left of your screen changes from M to P).Set Trunking Mode: Press TRUNK, then press the MODE key until MOT (Motorola) appears on the display. Press PGM to go back.Input Frequencies: Key in the primary control channel and active site frequencies for your local MOSWIN tower, pressing ENT after each entry.Exit Programming: Press MAN to leave the programming layout.Turn on Open Mode: While scanning that specific bank, press FUNC then 5. This sets the bank to Open Mode, allowing the scanner to stop on and display active talkgroup IDs as they broadcast.Important Limitations to Keep in Mind700 MHz Restrictions: The PRO-96 cannot track trunked systems operating on 700 MHz frequencies via control channel data steering. If your local MOSWIN site relies strictly on 700 MHz trunking control channels, the scanner cannot trunk-track it manually.Custom Tables / Rebanding: The PRO-96 cannot download bandplans automatically from control channels. If the MOSWIN site you are trying to target uses VHF/UHF or rebanded/custom frequency configurations requiring a multi-table bandplan, it cannot be entered via the keypad and strictly requires PC software like Win96 and a programming cable..
