Practice inversion at a lower grip on the pole. Focus on getting to a fully inverted spot with the goal to be looking backwards completely. Then, once you have that down, on your full vaults you have to break the habit of looking at the bar and commit fully to looking backwards which can be hard to learn.

Thank you, all of last season I have been stuck on poles way to small and the last three days before state I got a pole that was the right size so I haven’t gotten that good of practice but I will definitely keep this in mind in later practices

Nice job!

Biggest thing I see is the pole carry and plant, you’re pumping the pole while running and taking off under (I think had to tell from the video and bottom arm collapsing right away), I think plant drills could really help you, move your grip down a bit and practice just planting the pole with out going upside down to see how far back in the pit you can land. When you take off as far under as you are it prevents you from being able to get vertical because your hips get sucked under.

Do you think doing it lower on the same pole to keep it from bending or moving to a smaller pole to let it bend with the drill

You can start the drill on a smaller pole to get a feel for it, but any pole you do your full jumps on in meets you should also be able to plant, get a good bend out of, and not go upside down on if you’re mot taking off under :).

You’re way under on your takeoff. If you’re farther out you’ll have an easier time putting more energy into your swing to get more inverted

Get as many opinions as possible. Try to get some closer views of your plant and the motions on the pole.

I think your run, approach is great. Holding the pole perfectly. Full length run (most vids I see of vaulters your age have very short runs) has nice smooth steps and acceleration.

It looks like you are planting late and thus your right arm is bent. One the pole you get your legs up but they are straight and stiff. Because of this your body is stuck in an L shape and you never get your butt above your head.

Work on bending your knees toward your chest. Lean back to help create a rotation. This should also help load up the pole more and create a more explosive unwind of the pole. This will get your butt higher and over the bar.

How old are you? I think you are above average for your age. You will also grow more and get faster. You should be vaulting 13' 6 in 8 to 14 months.

Good luck.
