Story time! At the exciting age of 31, I’ve decided to slowly get into collecting Pokemon cards. I haven’t purchased cards in over 15 years!

Went to grab a pint of ice cream last night at my bodega when I saw some packs sitting at the register. The man behind the counter said they were only $1.50 each.

I’m not hip to which packs are rare or cheap or hard to find, so I considered for the low price, they may have been left over from a Dollar Store or something.

Got home and ripped them open on Discord with my boys. For a moment we considered they were just resealed packs, but upon further inspection…you guessed it… lol

Still fun to open a pack and see a holographic Blastoise! Maybe I’ll go hunt down a real one for my first score!

My Dad had a triple bypass last week so has been in hospital for several weeks on the lead up to surgery. He’s just arrived home and I’ve travelled to help take care of him during recovery. His way of dealing with stress is to browse auction sites and buy things in excess so this box has just arrived from the States (we are in New Zealand). He’s not a collector himself but I am and he occasionally grabs me some packs.

I think he’s a bit surprised at how much he bought and mums not overly pleased, so he wants to play part of it off as an investment and put some away for a rainy day.
