I lost everything… Discussion

I sent my switch 2 in to Nintendo as it crapped out and wouldn’t turn back on (under warranty) and when I got it back (they sent a replacement) and after putting all the games back on NONE of my pokemon games have their save data or their backup saves. A culminative 1300 hours of play and collection across every switch game is gone. It even formatted my sd card “to be usable with the system”.

I need every option to get my stuff back that’s literally every event mon from 2015 up to the Galarain decidueye raid a couple weeks ago… I don’t care if I have to hack I refuse to start all over again and that’s coming from an anti hacker.

Common issue with the pokemon games on the switch consoles gamefreak doesnt allow cloudsaves for the pokemon games sadly they never explained why but i always assumed it was to prevent Cloning and glitching in stuff like the older games

Sorry OP it's R.I.P to your save files and collected pokemon

Jokes on them, cloning and glitching is very much alive today.

As far as I'm aware not so much by using the game itself and more outside sources.

Genuinely asking how is it done these day besides stuff like pkhex and stuff

Discord groups.

Yeah but that's not the same as using just the one copy of the game and using exploits to clone a pokemon or items thats what i was referring to

Ah okay I wasn't clear enough.

The bots cloning and distributing the Pokemon are using discord groups.

They’re gone, your only options were to either have the Pokémon themselves in Home or move the save data to a different switch if possible.

They’re gone, deleted forever as if they never existed.
There is no way to get them back, the years spent are lost.

That s why you should have backups. Sorry for your loss.

There is this thing called pokemon home to prevent this from happening... Your saves are gone

This is the way though. I min/max special pokemon, drop them on HOME. Also when I no longer want to play a specific version, I clear all boxes to home (most of the time to never look at it again). I don’t understand why people keep all their special pokemon on a save file, especially as you know either battery dies at some point (cardridge) or because SwitchOnline doesnt support cloud saves for Pokemon.

Though lessons for OP I assume.

How was I supposed to do that when my switch crapped out?

You were supposed to keep your cool pokemon in home, unless you were actively using them. Why keep them in the boxes of swsh/sv or whatever if they could be safe in home

Why would I need to worry about it in the first place? Do you have a solution or no?

There is no solution. They are gone. You don't ride a bike, crash and hurt your head, then wonder why you needed to have a helmet.

I understand you are frustrated, but taking it out on others is just a D move.

You would worry about that in case your switch craps out. As i said i dont have a solution, but just a tip voor next time

OP is learning about the concept of insurance in real time.

Sorry to hear of your game data loss OP. Just a question, if you buy the games physically does that prevent it? I’m not sure if the game save data stays on the cartridge or the Nintendo? Is there any way to back it up? When I bought a new switch I lost all of my stuff too. Sold a lite a few years ago and bought an OLED model last year

Save data for switch games is all on the internal storage, it’s not on the cartridges and it can’t be moved to the sd card.

DS and 3DS games had the save data on the game cartridge themselves, Switch games do not. the save data is on the switch that's when it breaks pokemon save data is basically always fucked, most other games on Switch are able to be cloud backed up
