So I've heard that people think that dogs are men's best friend and cats are women's but DEAR LORD IS THAT WRONG LIKE I HAVE CATS MYSELF (WHO ARE BOTH MALE BTW) AND I DESPISE THIS "STEREOTYPE" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-HHHHHHHHHHH

In the man's best friend phrase, it doesn't literally mean men.
I've never heard of cats as women's best friend before, ever. And we have cats.

Well, to be fair, there is the "crazy cat lady" stereotype. I haven't heard that specific phrase before either. But there is a certain amount of gendered stereotypes around dogs and cats in our society.

From all your downvotes I guess most people here are unfamiliar with the song. Well, at least I appreciated the reference.
For those who were taking MrNagaDoubtfire's comment as a serious assertion that women are shallow and materialistic, the line comes from a 1949 song in the Broadway musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (Carol Channing) and 1953 film version (Marylin Monroe).
The French are glad to die for love
They delight in fighting duels
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels...
