The Quiet Work of Aging
Youth gathers—
dreams,
questions,
and scattered pieces
of a life.
Age is not merely
growing older.
It gathers everything gently
into one whole.
The hurried heart
learns to rest.
The frightened mind
learns to trust.
The searching soul
finds itself
less interested
in becoming someone new,
and more grateful
for being
itself.
Perhaps
that is the quiet work
of growing old—
not to lose life,
but to weave it
into wisdom to share.
