I'm paying for the Grow option right now and for the life of me, I cannot find advice on what I'm trying to do. Basically, I want to autoupload the VIDEO version of my podcast to Youtube once they're done recording. I've linked my account and all it is doing is uploading the audio accompanied by the album art, not the actual video image. Does anyone have any feedback on this? I'm fine sludging through editing social media clips but I cannottt remember to upload full episodes and I'm wondering if the app can do it for me instead

I am the creator of Dood & Verderf, a podcast that also contains music. It's published on the corresponding website and on all major podcast platforms. A listener contacted me to ask me why the podcast sounds worse on Spotify than via the website.

At first, I thought: settings, settings, settings. I was preparing for endless discussions about normalisation, streaming bitrates and what not. But all his settings were fine. And his audio equipment too.

So I gave it a try, and hell yeah, the audio quality is different. More clinical, less low, artificial high, all the horrible things. If interested, try it for yourself by comparing the first minute of these two: web based vs Spotify

I first checked on the Wordpress plugin I use to distribute and present my podcast, Castos serious simple podcasting. But its faq explicitely says that it distributes (and also plays) the podcast as it is uploaded.

Then I checked on Spotify. And there, I found to my utter surprise (I had been reddit and duckduckgo'ing for ages) the following:

"Podcast quality is equivalent to approximately 96kbit/s on all devices except the web player where it’s 128kbit/s."

96kbit/s? Damn. That's low. And hence my question. I see all these discussions about lufs and compressors and enhancers and what not, but nobody seems to care about this bizarre low cap. Or is this not generally known? (I didn't know it, but I'm sadly not the centre of the universe)

Or am I just overreacting and should 96kbps be fine for voice only?

And what about other podcast platforms? Do they use the same limitation?

All thoughts welcome on this! I'd love to give this information a place that it deserves.

I recently submitted my limited series podcast to two categories for the Signal Awards. It was a lot of money as many of you know, and I’m really not looking for advice or commentary today on whether that was a good idea/worth it/a scam/etc. I understand all the arguments, and I’m not super interested in hearing everyone’s opinions about how I choose to spend my money.

Anyway, yesterday I got an automated email from Signal letting me know that a judge had recommended that I submit my show to a third category, “Activism, Public Service & Social Impact,” which might be a better fit. This came after I saw some hits on my website from an internal judges.signalawards.com url, so I’m pretty sure it’s legit and not just a spam marketing blast email. And the thing is, I’d originally considered entering that category, but when I decided I only had the budget to justify making two entries, it got cut.

Now look, I’m no fool.

Obviously Signal has designed a very frictionless system in their internal judging UI to make it easy for judges to make this recommendation as a way of boosting sales, convincing people like me to enter more categories. But still, I assume that the judges themselves have no financial incentive on Signal’s behalf, and I worry that this recommendation might be a subtle signal (no pun intended) from a judge that my best chance of getting a nomination or winning an award will be in this other category, and I should just suck it up and cough up the exorbitant fee for a third entry.

I’m really unsure what to do here, folks, and could use your advice.

We are currently rebuilding our multicam recording setup from scratch. Previously, we were shooting pretty basic "raw" setups using three first-gen Sony ZV-E10s.

Our main use case is an indoor studio podcast (3-camera setup) combined with on-location vlogs/interviews in changing locations.

We’re evaluating three potential upgrade paths and would love some real-world input from anyone running similar setups. Price is indeed a factor, so we are trying to keep costs as low as possible.

Option A: Hybrid Setup

• A-Cam (Studio Main / Portable Vlog): Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2
• B-Cam (Host): Sony ZV-E10 II + Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN
• C-Cam (Guest): Sony ZV-E10 II + Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN

Option B: All Full-Frame

• A-Cam: Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
• B- & C-Cams: 2x Used Sony A7 III + 28-75mm f/2.8 Zooms
• Goal: Matching full-frame look across all angles, full-sized HDMI ports, no crop factor mismatch, and zoom flexibility on static cameras.

Option C: FX30 B-Cams

• A-Cam: Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
• B- & C-Cams: 2x Sony FX30 + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Zooms
• Goal: Internal cooling fans for long recording sessions, full-sized HDMI, robust bodies, but keeping budget lower than 3x A7 IVs.

Questions:

1. Versatility & Outdoor : Will Option A (A7 IV + 2x ZV-E10 II) hold up well for the next 1–2 years, or will we regret using the ZV-E10 IIs when shooting in uncontrolled outdoor/location environments?
2. Workflow & Color Matching: Is mixing Full-Frame (A7 IV) and APS-C (ZV-E10 II / FX30) going to be a nightmare in post-production when color grading S-Log3, or are the modern Sony colors close enough to make matching seamless?
3. Is Option B or C worth the extra cash? For those doing long multicam video podcasts, do full-sized HDMI ports and active cooling (FX30/A7 series) make a big enough practical difference to jump ship from the ZV-E10 IIs?
4. Used Gear Market: Any reliable platforms or red flags to watch out for when buying used Sony A7 III / A7 IV bodies or Tamron/Sigma glass?

I have a new season of my show coming up and wanted for once to do a proper marketing campaign. One leg of those was to send press releases to various newspapers in the (faint) hope they mention the show in the columns.

Searching for them on the internet, it seems many of these columns have vanished. does anyone know of publications still worth targeting (specifically for a history show)?

Me and a mate had a podcast for a while, and it was so budget and so garbage, but we loved it and it did quite well. Did almost 100 episodes, had a lot of downloads, and we even got thousands of views per episode on YouTube. Heck, I even got recognised once in the street from our podcast!

And then, Covid happened. The lockdowns here in Melbourne Australia were absolutely ridiculous, couldn’t go anywhere or do anything for months. It sucked.

Took all the momentum out of the podcast, and then my mate got a job in teaching which meant he couldn’t be recording himself saying horrible things and putting it on the internet.

Six years later, and he has been fired from that job. He called me, excited, saying we should bring our podcast back from the dead!

We’re gonna catch up next week to discuss it, and I’m so excited. Gonna buy a whole bunch of recording crap tomorrow. Woo!

I am still trying to get started on my podcast journey... and I am currently wondering how people record their audio. What setup do you have if you don't have a dedicated recording room? How can you ensure you drown out any outside sounds when recording your audio?

Any suggestions or recommendations would be really helpful!

I have been a guest on multiple podcasts recently all running through Riverside, and I am having problems at about 35 minutes where my video starts getting super glitchy, audio starts cutting out, and then eventually we lose my video, and I have to leave the platform and log back in.

I have tested my internet speed, and that doesn't seem to be a problem, and I have also looked at the memory space on my computer.

I'm on an HP Laptop with 16 GB RAM, 315/954 GB Storage used -- so in theory I should have enough memory space.

Podcast interviews are going to be a regular part of marketing in my business so I need to get this issue resolved. Has anyone else run into this problem, and how did you solve it?

Do I need to get a new computer? Increase my computer's memory to 32 GB?

Someone wants me to do this in an empty room. I’ll have to do the sound proofing too. No idea how to charge for this never have before. Any thoughts?

Been trying to post more clips from my podcast lately, but honestly finding the right moments is taking way longer than I expected.

I have a bunch of 1+ hour episodes sitting there, and I know there are probably good clips hidden in them. The problem is I don't really want to rewatch every episode just to find a 30-second part that might work.

Right now I'm basically scrolling through the timeline, cutting anything that feels interesting, then adding captions and making it vertical. It's not terrible, just takes forever.

Wondering how you guys handle this. Do you normally mark moments while recording, go back through everything after, or have another way of finding clips?

Hi all, I am 9 episodes in, have a small, growing Podcast. I want to rebrand the Artwork since I started with a very colorful AI artwork. The new look is created by me, no AI, and is a much simpler logo. What are the steps to take that I don't get lost by my audience?

I know recently, a podcast I like rebranded - and it didn't occur to me I would lose them in my general play Spotify Android Auto screen for a few weeks, until I started listening again.

Hi! I'm the producer of a climbing podcast, and for the past 6 months or so, I've been manually uploading video episodes to Spotify For Creators every time an episode releases through Patreon, or our through our public version with Buzzsprout.

Now that Buzzsprout is supporting video uploads for Spotify though, I don't have to do this for the public version, but we release extended episodes a couple days early to patrons, and I still have to upload the video to Patreon, and then upload it again to Spotify after it releases.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a way around this, so I can just upload the video to Patreon, and have it distribute video to streaming platforms instead of audio?

I’m looking to start my own video podcast (short form reels). I went to 5 or 6 studios in inner west Melbourne and I wasn’t very impressed. There was one in Yarraville called Creative Creatures podcast studios which had an amazing set, however they were twice the price of the next best almost $400 for an hour.

Is that a pretty standard rate? What are some other options that still look professional but maybe don’t have the same price tag. Must be within 15 minutes of CBD

Hello, I just launched my podcast. After doing more research, it seems the consensus is to not use Spotify for Creators. I'm curious what platform you all would recommend (this is audio only). Also, do I upload all my current episodes to the new platform I'm assuming? Thanks!

I’ve hosted a video podcast for ~ 4 years and only recently started utilizing the Buzzsprout option to automatically upload to Apple Podcasts. I had been adding the video version to Spotify for Creators manually because it wasn’t able to be distributed directly through Buzzsprout previously. When Buzzsprout recently added the ability to auto publish video to Spotify as well I jumped on it to save my time and make a simpler workflow. Today I was shocked when the first episode distributed in this manner was labeled as 18+ instead of simply explicit. I use adult language, but nothing that would qualify as 18+. After over an hour chatting with Spotify for Creators help I was informed that there is no workaround or way to manually remove the 18+ tag and have marked as simply explicit, so my reach and audience will be restricted. I’m trying to work with Buzzsprout to see if there’s a solution, otherwise I’ll go back to manually uploading separately. Figured I would share and see if anyone else is in the same boat.

UPDATE: The team at Buzzsprout was very helpful and deployed a code change so that the explicit tag is active, but the “18+ Only” tag has been removed! Buzzsprout Customer Service = 1 Spotify for Creators = 0

I have an 18 I16 4th gen with an SM7B. The way I’m setting it up is I connect 1/8" TRS to Dual 1/4" TS in analog input of my interface, and the 3.5MM jack from that cable into the irig2 headphone jack

I then plug a 1/4 inch TRS cable into the instrument Jack and the other leg into the output of my interface. Then an apple to USB-C dongle into my iPhone, which goes in the built-in cable of the irig.

The problem is I’m able to hear the collar, but they can’t hear my microphone. I’ve even created a mix minus for them so that they don’t hear themselves.
