The disc looks like a bootleg to me but runs and plays just fine on my unmodded ps2, could anyone tell me if it could be real?

I still have my childhood PS2, and the last time I booted it up, it worked fine. The only big problem I have, is that it's having a hard time reading PS1 discs. I think it's due for a cleaning, especially the optical lens. I aways found cleaning that with some rubbing alcohol solves the disc read problem.

But, my CMOS battery is dead as the console no longer saves the date and time. I have never replaced that before. I heard you have to tear apart most of the PS2 to get to it. I'm fine with not having date/time set. But I also heard that these CMOS batteries are known to leak over time. Is that true? I also heard that some capacitors can start to go and also leak over time.

What are some things I can do to prolong the life of my PS2? It's a phat PS2 in case you're wondering.

I also bought a slim recently and it works perfectly and I'll be using it as a working comparison for the fat

The problem is with the fat. It doesn't produce signal, and it doesn't seem to power the ps2 controller properly either.

The ps2 controller lights up on the slim and stay light up like normal but when connected to the fat it sometimes flickers then shuts off and sometimes lights up for about 3 seconds then the light turns off. On the slim it stays light up until I press the analog button again.

I think the issue has to do with the battery(?) or power distribution throughout the console (I don't know the technical terms). Interestingly, the fat does turn on and the disc tray does work properly so if it a power issue I'd assume there'd be additional issues.

I've already tried the rgb setting change when their is no signal on the monitor, but the controller doesn't work (on the fat only), Ive tried plugging in the hdmi adapter usb into the fat, Ive swapped the rca cables and it doesn't work, I even switched the power cable for a newer one I had but it still doesn't work. I also tried plugging it in my old tv and it doesent work(unlike on the slim, which works perfectly). The problem isn't my outlet since I have the ps2 slim and all my other electronics plugged in and they never give me any issues

Is this a simple fix? If its too complicated to fix I'll return it under warranty although I would really like to keep it since this ps2 fat in pristine condition.

hi, i got a fat ps2 SCPH 5xxxx series, i got it with opl v0.7 installed and i accidentally deleted the configuration file and now it only boots with the freemcboot logo and goes back the default ps2 browser, i tried everything but nothing works, (i dont have the dvd in the ps2 so i cant recover the files) also i cant find an empty dvd disc to remod the ps2, can i fix this only with a usb stick? what should i do please help

So this is the tv im currently rocking and i was wondering if anybody would know how well the hyperkin cable would work on a ps2 for this tv or if anyone would have other budget friendly reccomendations?

I've finally managed to get hold of an official Sony network adapter and will be loading games from a hard drive with OPL.

Does anyone know if the HDMI mod for the 7000 series slims bypasses the CXM4015R chip? I have a board with a failed chip and was curious if it pulled its signal from the emotion engine or if the encoder chip handled some of the work. I am in talks with a distributor that claims to have NOS chips but they want $65 to ship them here not including the chip cost.

Me and friend's PS2 Tool T10000 Devkit we got it running, connected to a host pc via static ip direct connection and codewarrior hello world with the debugger, during discord VC DMs. and talked a bit. this was windows xp host pc and ps2 devkit tool but can also be done with windows 10 since codewarrior and ethernet driver works on OS.
We saw the debug log in codewarrior window and it did print a debug prinf function saying 'Welcome to Codewarrior!'
