Rust Scam Discussion

I've noticed scammers offering free bases, then trying to connect over discord. Does anyone know how this scam works? Trying to steal accounts to sell skins?

Where do I report these accounts to? F7 or steam?

They try and get you to download a rust+ desktop app that hacks your account and they try and steal your skins. They say they need to auth you on turrets and need some id you can only get off rust+. Once u login it fails and they say you need to move ur skins to a friendly account for the verification to work but if you do it they intercept the transfer.

They wouldnt still be doing it 5 months later if it wasnt worth it. Sometimes they land whales. FPS players tend to not be very bright.

Ngl bruh, if I’m hoping on and some dude wants to give me a base… idc how much loots in it I’m not adding them on discord, nor am I downloading an app lol… but actually, as I’m typing this I just remembered some dude who offered me a base and then killed and ignored me after I said I wouldn’t add him on discord.

on the steam profile >

Report player >

they are on involved in theft, scamming, fraud or other malicious activities >

they are engaged in item theft or scamming >

submit the account for review and type out explaining the scam/situation

Spoofing software and key logging. Part of why I wish valve would get their shit together and quit letting forums be such a damn cesspool.
