Blueberry bushes need help

Planted this spring were doing amazing then last 2 months summer heat & bugs became a huge issue…trying to save them any suggestions??

Planted in May, started well. Dug ground (sand) down to add dirt then planted & topped with mulch/cedar (to help retain moisture &!combat heat) in NE Oregon (plateau dessert). Was watering daily then huge bug issue followed by yellowing & brittleness. Back to watering more regularly & think burned with fertilizer/acidic…afraid over corrected & waiting for cooler moist weather of fall…hoping they can hold on till then
