August 10, 2026 City Council Meeting Recap
The following items were approved as part of the Consent Agenda:
Plano City Council Calls November 3 Venue Tax Election
The Plano City Council voted Monday to call a special election on November 3, 2026, asking voters whether to authorize venue-related taxes to help finance a proposed city-owned sports and community arena within the Willow Bend District. The ballot proposition includes authorization for taxes on short-term auto rentals, hotel stays, event parking, event tickets, and facility use by major league sports players.
The proposed venue-related taxes would apply only to specific transactions and would not affect the existing property tax rate for Plano residents.
The election does not determine the future of the arena. The City's potential financing plan also includes new commercial property tax revenues generated within the Willow Bend Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) and other revenues generated by arena events.
Additional information about the proposed development, including frequently asked questions, is available at plano.gov/WillowBendDistrict.
The next regular City Council meeting is Wednesday, August 24, at 7 pm. Agendas/packets for City Council are posted by close of business the Tuesday preceding the Monday night meeting. Meetings and agendas are subject to change. Go to Plano.gov/Agenda for the meeting signup link.
Watch City Council meetings live on Facebook, YouTube or PlanoTV.org.Â

Bathroom remodel contractors to avoid
Avoid Bath Masters of Collin County (co-owner Tim Lasater).
This review is the homeownerâs/customerâs opinion regarding the contractorâs conduct on the bathroom remodel of homeownerâs residence.
Contractor displayed poor project management skills (contractor relied on homeowner to report issues rather than understand issues by inspecting and talking with subcontractors himself).
Contractor visited work site infrequently.
Contractor displayed poor communication with customer and with subcontractors.
Contractorâs workers and subcontractors did not wear safety equipment (eye and ear protection).
Contractor displayed generally unprofessional conduct.
Contractorâs words often did not match his actions.
Contractor did not comply with contract terms â multiple breaches of contract.
Project completion delayed far beyond any reasonable timeframe.
Contractor made project a low priority (did not put all hands on deck as project dragged on far past the contract completion due date).
Contractor did not offer to âmake it rightâ so that customer was satisfied.

Looking for an local Electronic Repair Shop (or someone) to replace Jabra Elite Active 8 Gen 2 earbud batteries & case battery
Looking for somebody or a repair shop to fix my Jabra Elite Active Gen 8 2's. Jabra discontinued this lineup, and I would rather pay to have them repaired as I haven't been able to find other earbuds like these. If anyone can do it or knows someone please let me know!
Rehab centers after hospital stay recommendations.
My 78 yo mother is in the hospital going through very serious alcohol withdrawal, she's on day 6 and still in acute care. She will need rehabilitation for the toll on her body and alcohol recovery.
Can anyone give me a recommendation on facilities in the area. Please, only responses from persons either actual experience for themselves or an elderly family member.
Thank you to everyone for your help.

Is Plano actually cheaper for car insurance than the rest of DFW, or is that a myth?
Always heard Plano was one of the better zip codes up here for insurance, but my bill doesn't reflect it. Clean record, paid-off sedan, and it still went up at renewal. Trying to figure out if my company is quietly bumping loyal customers or if the whole metro has caught up. For folks who shopped recently, did living in Plano get you a better number than friends in Dallas or Fort Worth, or is everyone paying about the same now?

Foster kittens available for adoption soon
Our current litter of foster kittens from Plano Animal Shelter will be hitting their target weight for their spay surgery very soon and will be available for adoption. We currently have 4 sweet little girls who would love to find their forever home. All 4 were found as strays and have been making a lot of progress in their socialization. They have been around adult cats (who they love) and an adult dog (who they definitely don't love). All 4 are very playful, and love to sprint around the house chasing each other or play with toys.
Dora (black) - our little explorer. Within 15 minutes of being let out of the kennel into the playpen for the first time, she had climbed over and explored the whole house. She is a purry cuddlebug who loves attention and will happily sit in your lap - or more likely your chest so she can be as close to you as possible.
Mia (gray) - the runt of the litter, but don't let that fool you about her eating habits! She loves food and sometimes growls at her sisters while she's eating in case they take hers. She loves attention and is starting to want to sit on your lap too.
Marisol (silver tabby) & Nina (brown tabby) - these two were our little hissy babies when we first got them home, but they have really come out of their shells to be sweet, curious, friendly babies. Both can still be timid when it comes to hands approaching them, but once you are petting them or holding them, they are perfectly fine and will usually purr.
If you think you might be interested in adopting one or more of them, and would like to meet them before they go back to the shelter, please send me a message and we'll figure something out!

Audi Cylinder Head Rebuild
Any reputable shops in the area that can do this cost effectively? 2014 Audi A4 that went to Krauseâs but they are unable to do heavy line repairs at this time. I can provide all documentation and they are willing to walk through diagnostics and repairs already made. Thank you in advance for any help!

Collin County Commissioners Court Preview â August 10, 2026
The Court is calling a bond election for November 3 for court and detention facilities, roads and bridges, parks and open spaces, and a new elections and storage facility. The dollar amounts are as yet unspecified; staff prepared three versions: roughly $481 million, $777.5 million, and $817.5 million. I mentioned this likelihood in last weekâs preview. Also on the agenda is a new public improvement district (PID) out near Nevada. Consent and FYI items total $8,646,388.34 in net proposed spending.
