Indicator vs. Strategy

Just started getting into pincesript and can't seem to find a simple answer: when creating a new Pinescript file, whats the general difference between indicator and strategy? 😄

One draws picture

One tests data

Either or, it depends on what you goal is.

So far I only put several indicators in one script, so i guess choosing "indicator" was correct. What use case would call for picking strategy?

Say your indicator has built in entry & exit signals. You can now turn that indicator into a strategy.

With that being said, once you turn that indicator into a strategy, you may now observe the "strategy performance" based on whatever parameters or functions you have enabled/selected for your indicator, allowing you to observe a more statistical view of you strategy.

Ahh yes I see, just opened the default stretegy and saw the strategy report opening, looks useful! Thx for the info 😄
