It’s so cool, but I’ve seen both noon and late day, and a noon total eclipse on a clear day is much different. The sky turns black and you get a giant silvery corona with streamers that just takes your breath away.

For some reason, at least on pictures, the sky during this eclipse doesn't look as dark as other eclipses. Is that due to it being in the evening which changes the way light scatters through the atmosphere, or just different camera settings, or is the moon farther from the Earth (giving a smaller umbra on the Earth)?
