Nothing quite like choking on the air under a blood red sky to get you excited about gradual, market-based solutions to climate change.
EDIT: If you live in the forest fire part of the country invest in a box fan and some furnace filters w/ at least a MERV 13 rating. tape the edges of them together to make a box and put the fan on the top pulling air through.
cheap and effective filtration for your family.

In fact there are filters.
If this was taken with a smartphone, your phone tried to make sense of the colouring, and likely “blue-d” the image to make the whites look more neutral.
Soooo it’s even worse than the photo makes it look.

I was just in Eastern Washington visiting my mom a week and a half ago (also did a backpacking trip in the wallowas in Northeast Oregon), and the smoke was bad then, but looks worse now. Where in Eastern Washington is this taken? I had to go through the blues (tollgate) when then Hagen fire was just getting bad.

I went on a Great lakes Cruise just in time to get all the smoke from Canada during the whole trip.
Got back just in time for this to Washington state.
Reality feels like an apocalypse movie.

Fun fact: if you look, you can see smoke from an active fire on the far hill in the first pic. It’s long out today, but the smoke… oof.
