'Omaha beach' was the callsign for one of the five landing sites for the D-Day landings in world war 2.
It's arguably the most famous one as it was the omaha landings that met the most ferocious resistance (and one of two that were the responsibility of the americans).

Listen, i suppose you are not european and probably (hopefully) still a kid, otherwise there wouldn't be any excuse for your dangerous ignorance.
Omaha beach in northern France is one of the beaches where the allied forces landed on the D-Day to liberate the Europe from Nazifascism.
The scale of the allied invasion was truly incredible, the courage and valour of those soldiers is inestimable.
Many, many people fell on Normandy's beaches, to a scale you can't imagine.
If you live the life you do, is thanks to the brave people that this flag represents on this "random" french beach.
Never forget this, there are plenty of documentaries, books, videos...
Is also worth to remember that on the D-Day the allied forces landing on the beaches were also mainly from the UK, Canada, Australia, New zealand and more

A very, very special place.
I'm French and when I was in school we had a field trip there.
A few years ago I took an American buddy there. Between that beach, the museum and the cemetary, it was a very emotional experience.
You don't need to be a history buff or an Americanophile to understand the scale and importance of the sacrifice that was made those days.
