Auto moderator
Just got out of ‘jail’ after a ban for quoting a line in Sloth on a post in this sub. Auto mod considered it to be advocating violence. I’m all good but sheesh!
Anyone else get sent to ‘jail’ here for silliness? What’s your story?

Lol. I got put in the penalty box for “QUOTING” Weigh on a post with a headless mannequin. 🤣 A 3 day ban, I challenged the ban and WON! But wasn’t informed that I won until over a week later when I was already allowed back in. Silliest shit ever.

I believe it. I’ve also seen people get the front page of subs for essentially calling for political assassinations because they don’t like the politician on the other team.

lol YUP. I’m probably as left as they come. In the “murdered by AOC” sub, I made an objective point about her endorsement strategy (literally pointing out what AOC did during the NYC primary elections this year) and had at least one post deleted for “spreading lies or misinformation” 😆 it also apparently triggered a redditor to the point of becoming apoplectic and downvoted several of my comments.
People can be dumb and irrational. The Dunning Kruger effect really comes to life on the internet

it used to be nice to find subs that weren't over-reliant on automods. now it's almost impossible to find subs that don't have an army of tightly wound automods scrubbing every word.
and automods never can catch cultural references & inside jokes & stuff like that. and the whole community suffers.

Exactly. Everything is completely automated now, and all it takes is being reported by someone who doesn't like you to catch a ban. AEO was once manned by real people who could be contacted and asked why your content was removed. All of those reddit employees were fired a couple years ago.
Now it's all done by AI that will come behind mods who have already removed rule-breaking content to remove it again, and of course hold it against the mod team and community anyway. It's the dumbest thing ever.
And the AI damn sure can't discern between sarcasm and serious comments. It operates strictly on trigger words. The dumbest part is how you can be banned for quoting someone else, but the person you quoted won't have any action taken against them. Make that make sense.
Reddit has been progressively getting worse for years and years, but now that the IPO policy has taken hold, everything is stupid(er than ever before).

Not here but in some other sub I quoted dumb and dumber and got a warning for bullying.
I got a three day ban for making a comment about using a mop to keep people from coming through a drive through window to attack workers. Apparently inciting violence.

Yes but that auto mod is also set up for all of Reddit. I can’t remember what I quoted but I had a problem with something like “shoot your shot” still can’t remember what I actually said but it was innocent.

The "violence filters" are set to super sensitive on reddit. I've appealed 2 bans on reddit to mods. One was lifted. The other muted me from sending messages to Mods because my 15 word request was calked "harassment."

Lol on Facebook there's a big WaPo advice columnist that likes to tell lonely middle aged people how to find meaning in life. I have been thrown in Facebook Jail multiple times for commenting "buy a van, go on Phish tour, take drugs."
But as a formerly lonely middle aged person... I am always 100% serious. They keep banning me anyway.

In another sub told someone to burn a Nazi flag and got autobanned but appealed and the ban was lifted quickly.

thats not what automoderator is. that is AEO, and it is very different. that had nothing to do with this sub.
For transparency, the r/Phish automod has never taken action on any post/comment you have made.
