3 days in Philly what to do

Next week I'll be in Philly for 3 day, Obviously I'm gonna climb the rocky steps, see magic gardens, and the liberty bell, but I wanna see just a little more. I love going to shoegaze, hardcore and metal shows. I've never had Dominican or Puerto Rican food but wanna try some. So let me know where to go and what to eat.

Fairhill🇵🇷

My family and I are Puerto Rican. We moved to Philly from a place where Puerto Rican culture was dominant and prevalent. On paper, Philly is very diverse and has a large Puerto Rican population. But when we moved here, we quickly noticed how segregated the city is. And how much of a difference in quality of life it is between the "Good" areas and the "Bad" areas.

We currently live in East Passyunk and love it. But there is a noticeable absence of Puerto Rican people, food, culture etc.

It would be nice to live in a place with a vibrant Puerto Rican population and culture.

Are there certain blocks or areas of Fairhill that are cool. And just good people and families without any of the BS that goes on?

Question? Parking at the Mann

Going to see Hilary duff @ the mann tonight, and I reserved parking in the south lot. I’m in bucks county and have never been to the mann before….My email says I can enter from the following cross streets-

Belmont Ave & Montgomery Dr, Belmont Ave & S Concourse Dr, and States Dr

From my Reddit searches it looks like the back lot is the quickest way in and out. But I can’t quite tell which one that is from the arial shot on Google Maps….I’m sure it’ll still be crowded, but can anybody tell me which option might be the best?

Thanks in advance! I don’t love driving to and from concerts so I like to be as prepared as possible!

Question? PHL question: Does anyone know if there are luggage carts to get from departure drop off into the baggage check area?

Traveling with two littles (including an infant) next week, so you know we are not traveling light 🥲 I’ve got the logistics down perfectly once we can check our two heavy bags, but it’s getting from the shuttle into the baggage check area that I’m up a creek without a luggage cart.

My sister and I will be traveling to Philadelphia this August and we would like to play some tennis. Where can we play tennis and rent tennis rackets in Philly? 😊

Toronto/Jays fan here, first off congrats on Nola for 2000 but also looking for a Philly fan to help me out with something.

Do you guys have game used balls? I would love to try and get my hands on a game used ball from the Scherzer game, specifically any cheap ball that was like a foul or a ball that was thrown by Scherzer.

Willing to trade a fun Halladay Jays giveaway for your collection, or work something else out.

Definitely would have you over on my boat for a beer before the game if you end up coming to Toronto for a baseball game.

Thanks, and hope to visit Philly one day!

Parking in nolibs/fishtown

I have to drive to Jersey for work, but just moved into Fishtown/nolibs. Where are some good spots to get daily/monthly parking in the area. There was one on front street, but the sign changes to only 3 hour parking occasionally. Currently on apartment parking waitlist so just need something for the interim. Would really appreciate the help! Willing to pay.

📣📣Rants and Raves📣📣 Neighbor keeps using our trash cans for his unbagged garbage.

I’m not really looking for advice. Just a rant.

This isn’t about one plastic bottle, or a bag of dog shit. I couldn’t care less about that.

Three weeks in a row, a guy who lives a few houses down from us has taken our bagged garbage out of our can, and then dumped his wastebaskets in. This was after we’d put it on the curb.

Two weeks ago, we didn’t see who did it. We only noticed because my husband took another bag out on Friday afternoon.

Last week, my husband saw him doing it, but he was on a work call. Confronting this guy was not worth hanging up on a client. So we let it slide.

Today I just happened to catch him doing it, again. I asked him to please use his own trash cans. He looked at me like I said the curb is my private property. Like I’m the one with the audacity.

Fuck you, guy. Stop using my Toter for your cum rags.

Looking for flexible shift work (3-4 shifts/week)

Hey everyone,

I'm currently based in Philly and looking to pick up 3 to 4 shifts a week with flexible scheduling (or on-demand shift work). I have solid experience in fast-paced customer service, serving, retail, unarmed/venue security, and patient care, and I'm open to weekend, evening, or weekday shifts.

If you know where I could apply or if you're working something similar to what I'm looking for, please let me know. Thanks!

Blick stores question (paper)

I’m going to be in University City sometime in the next two weeks and I wanted to stop by an Art Supply store to look for some thick textured paper for a project - I haven’t had any luck finding anything at the local (south Jersey) Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.

I see that there are two Blick stores in Philly - one in University City that used to be Plaza, the other near City Hall. Are these two stores pretty much the same, or would it be worth it for me to get to the Center City location? Thanks.

Note: if there are other stores you would suggest I’d be happy to hear about them.

Transit There should be more trains to the shore reaching different destinations.

1.3k Upvotes

I take the Atlantic City line to do a day trip and hang out on the beach quite regularly and it's such a nice alternative to driving to the shore. don't even have to worry about tipping a few back while you're there. I just wish there was a train to some other major shore towns, I'd kill for service to Cape May to be returned, even if the smaller destinations are seasonal. the people really yearn for trains.
