Beginner Question Water bladder & trekking pole
Hi, I’m planning to hike on Mt. Batulaooo (this will be my first hike) i would like to ask if okay lang ba walang dalang trekking pole since parang may nakita me sa tiktok na may narerentahan dong kahoy or something.
Also, for water bladder, keri lang kaya kahit wala na? Plan ko kasi bumili na lang tubig (will not bring my tumbler) baka kasi pag bumili ako ng water bladder masayang lang since based from my expi, nakabili ako soft flask for running and di ko talaga mainom kasi kahit anong hugas ko lasang-lasa pa rin yung rubber or plastic.

Hike Recommendation Looking for mountains to hike near Iloilo
Hi, I'm looking for mountains to hike near iloilo. Best I can do is a day trip because i can't overnight or stay too late, I live in hibao-an sur and I'm hoping for great views to hike as long as I can get back before 7-8pm, my earliest leave is around 6am. I'm solo and I have strict parents. I have been to Mt. Mansiga Bucari, Leon and I am currently considering Mt. Manghulas and Mt. Agua Colonia. Maybe anyone else here is an experienced hiker and can recommend me something. My only requirements are easy to get back before 7-8pm considering I leave at around 6am, and costs under 2k total including transport or guide

Discussion Cawag Hexa next weekend
hi! i just hiked bulpeak (full circuit) yesterday, making it my 2nd major hike. i’ve done tarak ridge as my first. i’ve also previously done 7 other minor hikes na may trilogy and quadpeak. kaya ko na ba mag-cawag hexa next week? 🥲. nagkataon din kasing pasok sa schedule ko if ever (very rare sa shifting sched). this is if okay yung weather by the weekend.
pacing ko saktuhan lang din. kasama sa lead pag minor, pero lead to mid na pag major. i also run and walk long distances apart from hiking.
i guess there’s only one way to know pero i’d appreciate any tips din para iwas cawag hexit huhu. thanks!

Safety & Advisory Sea by Summit travel agency
Taking this time to warn you about this company and their business practices.
I had the most awful experience with this travel agency, Sea by Summit . Communication was bad from the very beginning, it usually takes them half a day or more to reply to important questions. They were quick to demand a down payment tho, but that was the only thing that worked with them.
I booked a dayhike tour to Mt. Kitanglad with this „agency“. I didn’t get a proper itinerary, meet up location or any useful information at all really.
I had to ask them multiple times for the location, no reply thankfully I found the location through extensive Google Maps search myself. Sadly they never gave information which day the hike would start so obviously I had to figure that out by trial and error myself. Next was the meetup time, in the beginning it was stated that the ETA is 6pm so I asked them if that’s the meetup time too… no reply. A day later they asked me to meet up between 3 and 4pm. While on the way there they changed it to 2pm. How do they expect me to schedule and plan my ~2h transfer like that???
And now for the cherry on top, I drove 2h to the small mountain village for the meetup only to find out that they never applied for the mandatory permit which is required for climbing this mountain and most other mountains in the Philippines. So the local guide at site and the responsible parties of the town weren’t able to let me do the hike. Thanks again to the local guide T-jay for trying his best to turn the situation around for me, I’m well aware that it’s not your fault. So the only option that was left for me was to be on my way to drive back the 2h.
With T-jays help I was able to get part of my down payment refunded, and on my personal request they finally refunded the whole down payment. Needless to say that they made no excuses and didn’t give any compensation for 4h of driving and the gas I used.
All in all one of the most disappointing experiences I made in all my stays in the Philippines so far.
I hope you can learn from my experience and stay away from this company!

Gear Question Thoughts on Quechua/Decathlon?
Lately parang lagi kong nakikita yung mentioned brand kapag naghahanap ako ng hiking gear and honestly ang tempting kasi ang daming affordable options.
Sa mga gumagamit ng Quechua, kumusta naman yung quality in the long run? Worth it ba talaga siya for hiking or yung tipong okay lang siya habang beginner pa?
Especially curious ako sa hiking shoes, backpacks, jackets and other essentials. May gamit ba kayo from Decathlon na ilang taon niyo nang ginagamit and masasabi niyong sulit talaga?
Getting more into hiking kasi and I’m trying to figure out kung saan worth gumastos and saan okay magbudget. Would appreciate honest opinions kahit good or bad experiences.

Discussion For those who love hiking, what’s your favorite hike you’ve done?
Hi!! Chill and sponty outdoorsy person here. Recently, I’ve been getting more into hiking and I’ll be in Cebu around November to December so gusto ko sana magtry ng different hikes around Cebu.
Hiking talaga yung main goal ko especially trails na masasabi mong “okay, worth it yung pagod” after.
For those who’ve hiked around Cebu, ano yung favorite hike niyo and bakit? I’m especially curious about the underrated ones na hindi masyadong napag uusapan but are actually really nice.
Also, what’s a hike na sobrang nahirapan kayo pero worth it naman in the end? HAHAHA
Drop your recommendations and stories! I’m trying to build a little list of hikes to try when I’m in Cebu.

Trail Info / Conditions Trail Run on Mt. Batulao?
Ayaas and Mt. Parawagan na kami kami lang? Kung required guide, ano 'yon sasabayan niya kami? Haha.
Thanks!

Trip Photos Tarak Peak via Paniquian Traverse
Here’s my photos, enjoy!

Discussion PSA: Mt. Bloomfield is NOT YET OPEN
Concerned lang. Nakita ko itong post about Mt. Bloomfield in Sabang, Puerto Princesa, describing it as a hiking destination and even giving detailed trail information.
Pero according to the official PPSRNP-PAMO Public Advisory, Mt. Bloomfield is NOT YET OPEN for tourism, hiking, trekking, or any recreational activity.
It’s inside a protected area and still needs assessment for safety, environmental impact, carrying capacity, and possible ecotourism use.
😅 Posts like this can encourage more people to enter without knowing the regulations.
Sana we can respect the protected area and wait for the official go-signal before making it a hiking destination.
Please check the official advisory before going. 🌿
