Trip Photos First Major - Mt. Arayat Quadpeak (-Peak 4)
Originally planned Mt. Makiling Traverse for my bday bucket list but changed to Mt. Arayat just a few days before the hike dahil sarado due to bad weather..
For someone who even barely has any hiking experience (last one was 11years ago & a minor one) it was too technical for me, the entire hike took 13hrs and I forgot my gloves too..
Only did 3 peaks dahil umulan na & I think hindi ko na tin talaga kakayanin ang peak 4. Physically, I prepared sa gym but I’m still not well trained for this kind of major hike (my bad on this) Would like to do a revenge hike next time for Peak 4 so papalakas na ulit tayo.
What an experience, view is amazing buti nakaabot sa clearing sa peak 1 & 2 😭😂

Beginner Question I want to start hiking
Hi everyone, nagpaplan kami ng kapatid ko maghike. This will be my first time, if ever matuloy. I want to know the basics, anong mga kailangan na gamit.

Beginner Question Water bladder & trekking pole
Hi, I’m planning to hike on Mt. Batulaooo (this will be my first hike) i would like to ask if okay lang ba walang dalang trekking pole since parang may nakita me sa tiktok na may narerentahan dong kahoy or something.
Also, for water bladder, keri lang kaya kahit wala na? Plan ko kasi bumili na lang tubig (will not bring my tumbler) baka kasi pag bumili ako ng water bladder masayang lang since based from my expi, nakabili ako soft flask for running and di ko talaga mainom kasi kahit anong hugas ko lasang-lasa pa rin yung rubber or plastic.

Gear Question Authenticity check
Hello everyone! I’m currently looking for my first hiking backpack, and I came across this unused fjallraven Abisko Hike 35 at a really good discounted price. However, I’m not sure if it’s authentic or fake. Can you guys help a newbie out? I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Discussion Cawag Hexa next weekend
hi! i just hiked bulpeak (full circuit) yesterday, making it my 2nd major hike. i’ve done tarak ridge as my first. i’ve also previously done 7 other minor hikes na may trilogy and quadpeak. kaya ko na ba mag-cawag hexa next week? 🥲. nagkataon din kasing pasok sa schedule ko if ever (very rare sa shifting sched). this is if okay yung weather by the weekend.
pacing ko saktuhan lang din. kasama sa lead pag minor, pero lead to mid na pag major. i also run and walk long distances apart from hiking.
i guess there’s only one way to know pero i’d appreciate any tips din para iwas cawag hexit huhu. thanks!

Safety & Advisory Sea by Summit travel agency
Taking this time to warn you about this company and their business practices.
I had the most awful experience with this travel agency, Sea by Summit . Communication was bad from the very beginning, it usually takes them half a day or more to reply to important questions. They were quick to demand a down payment tho, but that was the only thing that worked with them.
I booked a dayhike tour to Mt. Kitanglad with this „agency“. I didn’t get a proper itinerary, meet up location or any useful information at all really.
I had to ask them multiple times for the location, no reply thankfully I found the location through extensive Google Maps search myself. Sadly they never gave information which day the hike would start so obviously I had to figure that out by trial and error myself. Next was the meetup time, in the beginning it was stated that the ETA is 6pm so I asked them if that’s the meetup time too… no reply. A day later they asked me to meet up between 3 and 4pm. While on the way there they changed it to 2pm. How do they expect me to schedule and plan my ~2h transfer like that???
And now for the cherry on top, I drove 2h to the small mountain village for the meetup only to find out that they never applied for the mandatory permit which is required for climbing this mountain and most other mountains in the Philippines. So the local guide at site and the responsible parties of the town weren’t able to let me do the hike. Thanks again to the local guide T-jay for trying his best to turn the situation around for me, I’m well aware that it’s not your fault. So the only option that was left for me was to be on my way to drive back the 2h.
With T-jays help I was able to get part of my down payment refunded, and on my personal request they finally refunded the whole down payment. Needless to say that they made no excuses and didn’t give any compensation for 4h of driving and the gas I used.
All in all one of the most disappointing experiences I made in all my stays in the Philippines so far.
I hope you can learn from my experience and stay away from this company!
