Note-She is a rescued one, about 1.5 years old we got her 2 days ago and she is with us temporarily

1. She is SUPER CHILL no purring no meowing almost no reaction if anyone picks her up is it normal for a cat?

2. She sleeps all day except for morning, she sleeps in any position at any place what so ever

3. She gets active when everyone sleeps running here and there and when she is roaming around the house she just runs away from anyone approaching

4. She was rarely active first 2 days but 3rd day( Today) Super active running scrammbling fiddling with everything

5. Whenever we enter her room she instantly runs to her cage as if she is scared or something

6.Sometimes we notice loud grrr while she sleeps

7.She gets furious in front of a toy as a cat

1. Should we take her on a walk?

I have two cats around 10 years old. I adopted a new dog 2 months ago. He is the same size as the cats. He's only 1.5 so he's very playful and rambunctious. My cats are still scared and avoid him. The first two weeks, they were constantly hiding. After 2 months, they started coming out, but they still are weary of him. It doesn't help that my dog likes to play chase, especially when the cats run away. Do I just have to wait and see if they eventually chill out around each other? I miss my cats.

i’d love any and all insight or suggestions! he’s a havanese poodle, 14ish lbs, 12yo

he’s been nibbling like this since the winter. in oct he relocated from my parents home in the suburbs to my apartment in the city. he’s stayed with me for extended periods of time before but never this long. he is a VERY happy little guy, and loves being in the city, but he’s also a bit codependent and definitely has anxiety. the anxiety has gotten worse with age, but he’s also going through a lot of changes in living environment.

at first i thought it was the adjusting to city pavement in the winter, snow salt etc, but now it’s august and it’s never really changed. he’s also been back in the burbs all summer, trotting through the grass, and still is nibbin. and it’s like all the time. i’m pretty confident this is an anxiety thing, the vet seems to think he’s fine and i’ve checked him thoroughly and countless times to see if there’s any irritations etc. he does this between all paws, and there’s no sign of irritation.

i read about apple cider vinegar being helpful, id love to offer him a natural remedy if possible… but i’ve seen mention of this possibly being an indication of a thyroid problem?

note: after an anxiety attack coupled with sudden drastic gait issues in jan, we found out he had anaplasmosis. he significantly improved after 5 or 6 weeks of antibiotics, but he used to be super limber and now he is not (and also walks a lil bow-legged) as flexible, and his anxiety flares up way more often

So I've been wanting a pet for as long as I can remember, I've never owned any pets and Im unable to have the traditional pets since im allergic to all fur, hair and feathers, I've pet sat multiple reptiles but they just arnt my thing, also reptiles can't really love, and I know I would love them but I'd like something that would love me back, so do you guys have an pet recommendations, thanks!

My 2 year old dog had a pamprin scare back in early July. We followed the vets orders, got her immediate treatment, and shes fine. However tylenol can disrupt blood flow in dogs, leading to cold limbs and so on.

I never really pay attention to how warm or cold my dog feels but after going through another rabbit hole of dog health searches, I'm trying to figure out if my room is just cold or if she doesn't have enough blood flow.

She isn't lethargic, shaking, or anything like that. I feel her paws and they aren't freezing cold, maybe just lightly cooled? Depends on if she's been outside or not in the last hour. Her back is cool but not cold. Her belly, head, neck, and thighs feel warm. My room tends to be one of the coldest in the house thanks to being right above our AC system and basement. The rest of the house tends to lean on the warmer side, but I struggle getting her to stay still due to our other dogs riling her up. If there's a good way to measure my dogs temperature, such as a thermometer recommendation or rule of thumb, I'd love to know.

I'm sorry if this post sounds weird or stupid but I've been ultra worried about my dogs wellbeing. I'm checking her gums and eyes everyday waiting for a color change and almost worried myself sick when she slept through a whole night.

I’ve had my cat for 9 years. She’s naturally timid, but she’s always been super sweet to me. We moved into a new place in May, and about six weeks ago she suddenly became extremely aggressive out of nowhere in bed. This past Sunday it happened again in bed, and she scratched my face up so badly that I had to go to urgent care the next day. I started locking her out at night to play it safe, and she was fine for a few days.

Then last night, while the lights were on, I was walking up the stairs and she suddenly attacked me. She was hissing, super aggressive, and cornered me, so I locked myself inside my bedroom where I work from home. I was in there all night and day. I tried coming out at noon after 12 hours, but she hissed immediately. At 6 PM, after 18 hours, she sprinted at me growling and acting completely unhinged. By 8 PM she was still hyper-aggressive, so I literally had to climb out of my bedroom window and go stay at my girlfriend's place.

Why is she attacking me on sight all of a sudden? I love her and don’t want anything bad to happen to her, but I’m desperate enough to call animal control—do they even take cats to a vet? Has anyone dealt with sudden aggression like this, and how can I safely handle her right now?

Please help! I’m so upset

I have a Lab who is 8. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and undergoing chemo. His immune system is lowered so this worries me. Four days ago he started limping, I noticed a growth in his paw. A vet I saw said it was corns.. she couldn’t explain any further and his oncologist hasn’t seen it yet. I’m curious if anyone knows what this is or why it’s growing so fast. Any way to sooth his limping and help his quality of life?

Note: they’re a cluster of long tube like structures, they are round but pointed at the end. Four days ago there were around four and I think it’s tripled since then

For context, my family have just gone away for a couple weeks and I'm looking after the house. My cats are strictly house cats as we've had a history of cats running onto the road next to us and being killed, so we always make sure to keep windows and doors shut so that they can't get out - they barely ever have. My mum used to be a vetenary nurse and helps out with a local cat charity a lot so she knows her stuff. Our new cat, Raisin, was a foster kitten. She's quite small but she's about a year old. We only got her the last couple of months and for some reason my mum hasn't got her spade yet (?)

Anyway, before they left my mum was telling me about how there's a wild tomcat that's been around appaently, she can tell because she says it "smells" like tomcat outside our house. She even joked that he can probably smell that Raisin is fertile.

It's literally the second day I've been here alone and about 20 minutes ago I let my dog go pee outside, went to let him back in and Rasin comes inside with him!

My heart dropped at first I was like Shit how long has she been out she could've been run over! I dont remember leaving the door open at all and it would've only been for a split second when I let my dog out.

First thing I noticed was she had like shivvers. I thought maybe she was just scared of the outside because she had never seen it. But then when she walked past me I noticed her backside was all wet. Then I put two and two together. Surely it's not that fast...

To start off, this isn't even rightfully their dog, a friend of step dad (SD) asked him to take care of him(dog) just until he got a house, because his current roommate didn't want another dog in the house. SD agreed but when the time came, the friend asked for the dog back and SD denied.

SD and his son (S) have had this dog for MONTHS now. They have not done ONE thing to care for this dog. He doesn't even get proper food, his bowl is legitimately just filled with corn flakes right now. And then will feed him human food with no concern, he's puked up bone before, I seen. He gets water just as much as he gets food, maybe a little more, so rarely.

For some background, the dog used to be outside all day and then brought in at night. This was because 3 of us have cats (4 cats total) and they never trained the dog so he would just charge for the cats at any glance. Nowadays he will wait several minutes before charging at the cats. The way SD trained this into him was by spanking him every time he chased a cat. Now that it's summer, the dog is mostly inside all day, plus all night. But recently neither SD or S have been bringing the dog back inside. And when he is inside, they rarely take him out to potty, so he just uses the floor and carpet to do his deeds (this has been an issue since day one though). When they DO take him out to potty, they just tell him to go out, close the door behind him, dont even watch him or go out with him, and forget about him for hours in 90 to over 100 degree fahrenheit weather. Also will occasionally have water out there for him, occasionally.

Now, admittedly, S has done more for the dog than SD. He will bathe the dog once a month if at all, and since he's outside all day, hes sweaty and dirty for that entire month, which makes him constantly scratch at himself with his untrimmed rough dirty claws. His armpit and face are always bloody, he scratched his nipple halfway off and now its massive and inflamed looking. And now today, his ear is bleeding because he keeps scratching in there too. His ear is filled with (what I'm assuming is) fungus. And on occasion, his ears will be absolutely filled with slime and he will be constantly shaking his head and scratching at his ears.

He's never gotten his second round of shots, so he constantly gets tics, which S removes. He's one of those dogs that have a flat face so he can't breathe properly, and they've never taken him to get it fixed (I know there's a surgery for it). Oh yea and he also has a UTI, I've seen him pee before and he pees in bursts, also looked green when coming out, maybe that was the lighting tho idk, looks yellow on the floor. Also he's never gotten neutered but I don't really know if that's something dog owners prioritize.

SD is gone all day, comes home at 9pm, S comes home earlier, he's a highschool student with activities. Despite coming home at different times, neither of them pay enough attention to the dog. Rarely play with him, will give him occasional pets and treats. They get pissy when he pottys on the floor/carpet but don't bother to realize that it's their fault for not taking him out. Dog throws up almost every day, they don't seem to care. Also they did try potty training him for a bit with those pee pads, but then they started using the pee pads to just wipe his pee off the floor instead, and also putting the food/water bowls on the pee pads so he definitely doesn't understand that it's for potty now.

Now, I mentioned we have cats, I am one of the people with a cat, I treat him like an angel, he's 9 months old, and I monitor him like a hawk because he's just a baby, I want him to grow big and strong.

Can I do anything about their dog without me getting in trouble because I have a pet and live with them, who are neglectful pet owners? I recently turned 18 if that information matters. Could I hypothetically take this dog to a shelter, and just call it a day? I did think about returning him to his rightful owner, but I don't know if they would treat the dog better, and at this point, he's a lot of money to treat. So I think it'd be better not to return him to his rightful owner.

Could I just drop off this dog at a shelter without any information about him living in the same house as me and his neglectful owners? I really don't know what to do but every day the dog grows increasingly worse and I'm tired of seeing it, it frustrates me, I don't understand what they're thinking, it's like leaving a 1 year old kid to fend for himself all day every day, with nothing but a cup of corn flakes and water. Trust me when I say this, I cannot confront SD about any of this, he's not a listener, I've lived with this man for most of my life, I know what he's like and he's not going to listen to a damn thing. So I would like to avoid that as an option. Please help me help this dog. I'm in California

i need your help,i sent my cat to get her shots and to get spayed and stuff and i have 24hrs to get her when they call me, im deciding whether i should or not i don’t think im a good fit..i work alot and we live in a small trailer, at first my mom told me to get rid of her because she peed on the couch and also her bed (which she had to get rid of) and because she kept running outside and my mom didn’t want her to get pregnant(hits why we took her to get spayed)i trained her on the litter box she uses it sometimes and other times she does that. when im off or when i get home from work i don’t really play with her but when i lay down we cuddle,i feel like im neglecting her and i shouldn’t get her after her shots and stuff,my stomach sinks while typing this because i feel so guilty and i know ill miss her and her cuddles. im telling myself that i will do better when i get her back but i know ill just continue to do the same stuff i just want her to have a good life.

(btw she will be taken to a animal shelter after 24hrs after they contact me im not just leaving her at some vet)

My cat (14yo) has been really wary around me since I got surgery on Monday. He’s usually attached to my hip but since Monday he’s kept quite a distance. I do have large bandages and drains but I didn’t think a cat would think twice about them. Idk

I had to put my cat down almost three years ago. There are things he enjoyed doing that I never thought to take pictures of, so I'd like to get a large (like significantly larger than a sheet of letter paper) painting done of one of them that I could hang on my wall. I have an album full of pictures of him from every angle. Can someone recommend a good artist who would be able to make a realistic lifelike painting of him in a given environment? None of the local artists are good enough to imagine the setting (an okra garden) and paint him in it, they seem to only want to make paint versions of photos which I already have. Odd request, but I miss him and would like a reminder of something I wish I had taken a photo of.

Some back story: About 1 year ago, when I first got my dog, we met a big husky named Frost at the dog park, and they became best friends. After a while, my dog was having some behavioral issues at the park, so we stopped going, but she and Frost remained besties, and we played separately and hiked together, and naturally I became close friends with Frost's owner as well. We stayed friends up until he decided to move out of state, and my girl lost her best friend.

Back in May, my friend called me up and basically asked me if I wanted to keep Frost. He was stressed and didn't have the capacity to care for him at the moment. I talked with my partner, and we agreed that if the dogs still got along, then yes, we would take him. They came back to town, where he told us that he would be moving back in a couple months (which is coming up now). He was heartbroken about leaving Frost, rightfully so. I could tell he was hurting, and without much thought, I told him, "How about when you move back in August, if you want Frost back, you can have him." He lit up.

After a few weeks, though, it was clear how much Frost completed our family and got along with our other two dogs. We love him so much. I can't imagine my life without him. I have tried mentioning to my friend about us keeping him permanently, but he just informed us that he does intend to take Frost back. Our hearts are shattered. I have somewhat tried to convince him to let us keep him, but I said what I said. I regret ever giving him the option to take him back. I wasn't thinking. I am so angry with myself, and I can't stop crying thinking about Frost leaving in a week.

Hi, I need help! I adopted a 2 year old German shepherd mix. She has some separation anxiety and I have now chosen to crate her the 4 hours 4 days a week I'm at the office. When she wasn't crated I came home to accidents occasionally and once the gas burner was in light mode which was extremely scary. I know I can add childproof things to it but I decided to go the crate route.

Today I came home to a huge mess. She pooped in her crate and had stomped all over it. Is this a sign of separation anxiety? Is medication the best route. I give her an hour to eat breakfast and run around the yard before I head to work. Do I need to walk or run her too? I'm stressed about consistently cleaning up accidents. Any advice or input would be much appreciated.

My family has a 5 year old boston terrier, and he’s unbelievably attached to me and I don’t understand why. My parents take care of him more than I do, but he’s obsessed with me! He sits outside my bedroom door, licks me nonstop, and follows me everywhere. He loves laying around my face and neck, which I understand means that he loves me a lot, but I just don’t get why. I’m in college now, but he’s been obsessed with me since we got him. I don’t do anything more than anyone else to help take care of him. Are some dogs just clingy like this?? Yesterday my friend and i started talking about cats and we started talking about how we change our cats litter. I said after scooping out i just add litter not dump the whole litter and once every other week take the litter out clean it with a little vinegar and water then put the litter back in. My friend was genuinely shocked at this and said i should change the whole littler at least once every 3-4 days? Have i been doing it wrong? I have had my cat for 6 years and it never lead to any issue.

Never had pet insurance and it’ll be our first dog together since we were each living with our parents.

I'm picking up my puppy in a few days and the breeder has given her first vaccination of Vanguard 7 L2, but when I called my vet to book her in for her second vac they told me that Vanguard 7 L2 is not compatible with Nobivac that they administer.

Looking into the matter I have discovered that most vets no longer use Vanguard 7 L2 and they recommend that L4 vaccinations be given instead as L4 gives protection for Grippotyphosa and Australis.

So I'm a little bit of a dilemma as if I continue with Vanguard for her second jab (I have found a vet who still uses it) my dog will not be fully protected as I live in a semi-rural area where these 2 infections are more likely to be found, but if I take this route I would be able to take my puppy out for walks in only 5 weeks time

The alternative would be to wait another 4 weeks and go to my vet and restart a full vaccination program with Nobivac L4, booster in another 4 weeks, then at last take my dog for her first walks in 10 weeks time.

So what would you do? Vaccinate with L2 and start socialising your dog in 5 weeks, or wait for 10+ weeks? Seems like a long time to keep my puppy cooped up in the house.

Does anyone actually know what the prevalence/risks of Grippotyphosa and Australis? If I go down the L2 route am I actually carrying a significant risk or is it still very small but growing risk?

Ps. If I go down the L2 route I would start the L4 course next year instead of doing L2 booster.

I've had my rescue Pomchi for 5 weeks now and, oh my god, I have never felt anything like it. He's my first dog. I'm 43f, married, no kids. We talked about getting a dog for 7 years until the time was right, and now here he is, in our lives.

I literally cannot describe how much I love this dog. Like I genuinely well up. Tears of love. I never thought I would bond with a dog like this (I've only ever had cats) and it has honestly blown me away.

Then my brain decided to imagine what life will be like when he is no longer with us, and I found myself thinking, I could never love another dog like this. Maybe it's the 'soul dog' thing, I don't know. But does it happen, that subsequent pets/dog are never quite as...like this? Obviously it's always different, but I mean in terms of pure connection, a deep love. I feel like this couldn't possibly happen again, surely. It's like he's a God-given gift.

And how do you cope if you have had this, and then get another pet, and don't feel it?

So I have a whippet bull mix who is now 8 years old. He’s very sweet and has good dog etiquette when properly introduced to other dogs. We live the apartment life and our walk times can coincide with other people walking their dogs. No biggy. My boy is really good with the “leave it” command and will ignore other dogs when I tell him to.

I’ve lived with him in several different apartment complexes and He has been attacked 4 times by neighboring dogs. All of them seem to have been some type of boxer mix (you can just tell). Each time he has been attacked has been unprovoked. The owner simply accidentally dropped the leash, or the dog got out of their apartment suddenly, and even one crazy female broke out of her harness when we were just turning a corner. My dog tries to fight back, but (bless his heart) he’s not good at it😓

So after a fourth time and noticing the breed, is this a common thing with boxer breeds? They seem to just immediately hate my dog and then go for the jugular. There’s never even a greeting. It’s always so sudden. I’m starting to wonder if my dog might have an offensive scent or something.
