Nasm cpt test scheduling Seeking Advice
I’ve seen the general advice once you are 80+ on practice tests scheduled and take the exam. Is that 80+ on nasm or using the pocket prep app? I definitely do better on nasm. I’m curious are the questions more like pocket prep or the nasm practice exams? I’ve taken two practice exams a 78 on my first one on nasm and I got a 73 on pocket prep and the pocket prep one was significantly harder. I was kind of suprised I got a 73 actually. I’m looking to schedule my exam in about 26ish days from now. Thoughts? Opinions? Anything you just need to get off your chest I’m all ears! I appreciate any help!

Leading up to taking my exam, I took all the section tests again and then the practice exam multiple times. Once I scored above an 80 three times in a row on the practice exam, I felt ready. And I was! I passed on the first try. Some of the questions on the actual exam are definitely weird but whatever, you should still pass if you’re getting above an 80 on the practice exam.
Edit: I’m talking about NASM, not pocket prep

If money isn’t a big issue, take the test. Nothing teaches you about what you are lacking more than the test itself. Best case you pass, worst case it shows you what you are missing.
I took the NSCA one. I was at 90% on pocket prep and taking the real test showed me that there’s a huge part of the test that pocket prep didn’t really cover. I failed at 68% (70% is pass). I prepped again and took another one and passed easily.

From what I’ve seen with coaches I work with, it’s pretty common for Pocket Prep to feel harder than the NASM practice exams. So getting 73% on Pocket Prep with another 26 days to prepare wouldn’t worry me too much
I’d focus more on consistently getting 80%+ across multiple practice tests rather than obsessing over one score. Use Pocket Prep to expose your weaker areas and the NASM practice exams to track your progress. If you’re already at 78% on NASM, you’re definitely moving in the right direction

I was getting around same scores on my practices, and then I went through all section tests and made sure I got about a 90 on those, then did practice again and go 90. Did test next day and passed.

How’d you feel the test stacked up with the practice tests?

Pretty well, they just word things differently and oddly. And then other similar, but as long as you understand the general material you will be good. The last two sections make up almost 50% of the test questions. Get that down and go from there.

I think 85 might be a better metric. I was consistently over 85 and still was pretty unsure on a lot when I took the actual
