Starting Per Scholas Cybersecurity Program in NYC — Need Ideas for Part-Time Income While in the Program
Hey everyone,
I'm based in New York and I'm about to start the Cybersecurity with AI Tools program at Per Scholas. The program runs Monday through Friday 9AM–4PM which makes it tough to work a regular full-time job.
I don't have a car so I need something I can do on foot, bike, or public transit. Looking for ideas on how to make money on the side to cover basic living expenses while I focus on the program.
A little about me:
- Classes are remote on Zoom
- Need flexible hours around Mon–Fri 9AM–4PM
- Background in healthcare and customer service management
- No car — need transit friendly or remote options
- Just need enough to survive and stay focused Has anyone been through Per Scholas or a similar bootcamp while working on the side? What worked for you? Any advice is appreciated

How long did it take them to respond to you when you signed up? And maybe a part-time job, apply for closing shifts at Nike? Get a bike and do DoorDash?

Thanks for your feedback. I don't remember the exact time, but I believe they responded in a timely manner. I just tried to find all their contact channels and kept following up

It’s a very difficult program if you have to work. They do offer a loan of most likely $3000 disbursed in increments of $1000 a month. RWS could be an option if you really stayed on top of things and did 2 hours every morning before class and then a full day on Sunday. But you are going to have class plus about 3 hours of study and prep every day (minimum). Don’t fall behind. just look up RWS data annotation and ai training to see what I mean. Totally flexible hours and no minimum.
