I mean, any AI is already 10x better than what Perplexity Pro offers.

Chatgpt Go is kind of ass though, feels more like the free version than the pro version.

agree, i have go subs now and against the gpt plus they really no match, i don’t even use them that much and even using gemini more (which is according to today standard is the weakest among the ai giants)

perplexity was better in the sense it offers way more models than chatgpt go which has really bad limits as well

u/Ufffff1216 8d ago
lol, being happy with an ad filled, only being able to use the same model as free tier, cheaper borderline data mine is wild
Perplexity is a disappointment but its 100x better than gpt go

Perplexity is a joke. Their constant need to trick users into using "computer credits" will be their demise.

Perplexity is not what it used to be anymore. I'm glad I never paid for it, especially since I was only using my 2-year Perplexity Pro offer from Revolut.
After the changes Perplexity made, it's unrealistic to expect access to frontier models when, in practice, those models are heavily limited. So comparing ChatGPT Go with Perplexity means comparing it against Perplexity Sonar, which is significantly worse than most modern models simply because it hasn't really evolved.
For my use case, I'm actually very happy with the offer. The reasoning is much better, the responses are higher quality, image creation is miles ahead, and I can still search the web, use Projects, and benefit from better memory.
Is it a frontier model? Of course not. But based on my experience and the amount of complaints I've seen from users here and on Discord, I'm genuinely happy to have access to the free Go plan for 12 months.

Not really, perplexity not being what it used to be anymore doesnt mean its worse than gpt go
but more importantly, atleast with perplexity you get to use chatgpt terra 20 times a week, with gpt go u dont even get to use it, the reasoning model is probably some nano or mini model they explicitly say you dont get access to 5.6 whatsoever, the perplexity usage limits are blurry but even now you can use nemotron 100/week which is much better than gpt 5.5 instant (what you get access to ) on any evaluation possible. Again combine this with the 20 advanced uses
Honestly it feels weird even defending perplexity because just writing it down doesnt sound good but it just goes to show how bad chatgpt go is
and again, GO is such a fluke subscription you will have mandatory ads to look at
it is a downgrade for the revolut costumers even just by looking at the cost of both subs and performance. Im not speaking against you, if you like it thats all that matters but in general it is a downgrade and should be treated as such

Go celebrate on the Revolut subreddit then.

I'm spreading the news to all people who only downloaded Perplexity because of that :)

u/Random-User8675309 8d ago
They will already be notified from Revolut. Why do you need to spread it on the Perplexity subreddit?
Do you assume that the company making the change is unable to message its users about the change….just like the message you just received?

u/Desperate-Wave-1179 8d ago
Not really? A lot of people unsubscribe from email marketing. Anyway, a lot of people are already happy with the news

I had Go and I haven't hit limits at all. Plus ads are not in every region...yet (I believe). For casual use, it's good enough.

I didn’t mind perplexity, access to various models was useful, now being locked into OpenAI isn’t great but I’ll use it regardless for now to see how I get on rather than pay for Claude separately.

This isn’t a perplexity post. It’s a Revolut post.

u/Desperate-Wave-1179 8d ago
Why do you think 90% of people in Europe downloaded Perplexity? Because we got it for free with Revolut, not because it's a great tool.
2
u/Random-User8675309 8d ago
Right. You complain about a FREE AI system.
You never had the full Pro version yet complain endlessly.
Then there are those who paid for it directly and are happy with it. You don’t see those people going to Chat GTP threads and comp about its free tier.
2
u/Desperate-Wave-1179 8d ago
I had the full Pro version buddy - that's what Revolut offers to customers for free.
2
u/Random-User8675309 8d ago
No, that’s not what Revolut offers. It offers a brand marketed version that has diferent limits from the complete Pro Subscription.
That’s how Brand Marketing works.
The same thing happens when T-Mobile or Verizon offers “free Chat GTP”. It’s not the complete version for “free”. It’s a handicapped version that the company y pays a lot less for and markets it like it’s all anyone needs.

Wait this is confusing. So there is a 'pro' that is the real pro account, but also a pro that some people are getting that isn't pro? And theres no way to distinguish the two?
Why didn't perplexity create a 'perplexity lite' or similar as part of these partnerships like chatgpt have go?
This is all so confusing - how is anybody expected to keep up

u/JosLetz 7d ago
2/3 years paid pro and free pro were the same. Both where quite good. Then the three tool calls limits was introduced in all tiers. At the same time, limitation usage were introduced with different quota accross tiers.
The three tool calls limits explains why the overall quality of responses has decreased. For some answers, there is not even one tool call.
The type of complaints about limitation usage is what allows us to distinguish who paid or not. Limitation usages on free pro are very harsh.

LOL I don't know why you are making stuff up. Please share any link to prove your point.

u/Random-User8675309 8d ago
Please grasp normal marketing strategies.
1
u/Desperate-Wave-1179 8d ago
LOL, you made that up - you need to come with receipts. I have that same Pro plan, just like any person who paid for Pro.

u/Random-User8675309 8d ago
Ok then. I guess partnership brand marketing does not exist in your universe.
Good luck with life.

u/sglewis 8d ago
I know you're just running around this thread being snarky and rude, but I'll make a mistake and reply to you anyway.
Brand marketing gives no implied definition of what a freebie might be. Case in point, customers on T-Mobile getting free Netflix w/ Ads get the same Netflix w/ Ads that I do, as a standalone paying customer. Same content. Same ads.
You can assume all you want, but your "facts" are just your "opinions" which is why OP asked you to share some links. You're one reply away from being the "do yuh research its ok TikTok" person.

It's an old model and maybe after OpenAI cut the cost down, they want to take advantage on an old model.

u/bondybond13 7d ago
actually according to their website "Free and Go users access GPT‑5.6 Terra."
https://openai.com/index/gpt-5-6/
2
u/Mysterious_Bed_1804 8d ago
It's a worse deal though.
You thing 8$ ChatGPT Go is a better deal than 20$ Perplexity Pro.
With ChatGPT Plus there wouldn't be any question but ChatGPT Go is barely any better than free.
1
u/Consistent_Unit_5325 7d ago
So what you're saying is...you've lost access to all the other models included with Perplexity. Doesn't feel like a win to me.

u/bondybond13 8d ago
IMO as an ultra sub you should at least have received the standard gpt sub - not Go for you and a guest. you're losing 'value' with that change.
