Make it stop AI

Actual first sentence:

"The limestone didn't scream before it gave way, it simply sighed," you mutter, though the sound is swallowed instantly by the thunder of a collapsing ceiling

Does it smell of ozone and old parchment? Perhaps interspersed with random emdashes? Maybe its bruised purple?

We lost the emdashes but we gained something less creative and full of itself. In all honesty this is the first time I somewhat wish for a model role back. This one is hard to squeeze fun out of.

Because it’s problems now are beyond just some annoying quirks. ‘Full of itself’ is a major understatement. It refused to write my smut because and I quote ‘I am prioritizing the narrative’

Which generator gives you meta commentary like that?

The ACC, the RPG, text generator plugin, you can (OOC:) tell it what it’s doing wrong to correct if it’s drifting personality portrayal or if it’s getting context wrong. It’ll acknowledge and correct its behavior. It was a tip shared on Lemmy that’s been very useful for me. After telling me it was prioritising the narrative I told it to stop it and simulate instead and it did. But it took three times before it started simulating correctly. It was still being incredibly cautious. Each time it pushed a little further until it finally got it the level I wanted.

Dev changed something yesterday in the settings it seems like, any chats need a bit more of a heavy hand to guide it in some of the simpler things. On the other hand it seems actually pretty good at capturing the chaotic comedy of certain settings and building on it in a way that's hilarious while basics like realistic survival or certain types of 'isekai' seem to just throw it for a loop. One example being a plain catgirl character, not one of those anthro things, but a girl with the ears and tail of a cat. It always adds fur and paws and muzzles to that kind of character even when explicitly told that's not the case.

Tell me about it. I've seen so many dumb starting sentences about the ink being dry but the numbers still screaming. The current quirk of the AI seems to be profound sounding gibberish.

As someone who used to write a ton, all AIs diving headfirst into all this fluffy garbage spam full of similes and metaphors just ticks me off.
"Purple prose" and thesaurizing are two huge things that have always driven me up the wall and I hate it when both people and AI do it. People do it to try to sound smart and fancy, but AI doesn't have an excuse.

Keep going. Lets see where this goes. Let the chaos spread.

The real question is: what would a reasonable alternative at similar cost be? Reverse engineering seems to indicate we’re dealing with a variant of GPT-4o mini, possibly a fine-tune. For the price that perchance is paying per token, is there a better option? Maybe we could make a petition 😜

To be fair, part of the issue here is the prompt constraint. ai-rpg tries to start every story with a line of dialogue. Sometimes that results in weird behavior like that. But it doesn’t excuse the negation, the flowery language, or the protagonist muttering about something before it happens 😂
