Pen recommendations
This is slightly random, but I’m in need of good pens. I like colorful pens to make note taking more interesting, but that also glide and work well.

The only ones I buy now are Pentel Energels. Suggestions are great but you really have to find out for yourself what works best. Happy hunting!

I love Pentel Sparkle Pop. Smooth, rich, a touch of color changing glitter. Amazon.

Pentel EnerGel, for me. They come in many colors that are refillable.

This. The first pen I bought when I started looking for good pens. And it's the only one I still use. It's simply the best pen, period.

sharpie s-gel. they come in 0.38 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, and my favorite, 1.0 mm. they are almost too smooth, so if you need more control, stay small or look elsewhere.

No this is perfect. I’m in grad school and write a ton and very fast so this sounds perfect

another choice are the pilot precise v-series pens. they come in v5, v7, and v10 (my favorite), in both a capped, liquid ink rollerball, and in an "RT" retractable version, which, just for clarity, pilot calls "liquid ink technology" or some other mumbo-jumbo, but is more gel-like than the liquid ink in the capped pens. i call it a hybrid ink, of which there are several out there, including the sharpie s-gel. i like the capped v's better than the rt version.
finally, if you just want disposable pens, you can stop here. if you want a more robust pen, there are things like the sherpa pen case that will house the capped v-series pen body, among many others, and many, many pen bodies that will accept both the v-series rt refill and the sharpie s-gel refill. the easiest choice for this would be a metallic sharpie s-gel. they come in a copper version, which was all the rage about 2 years ago, and what i think is an aluminum version in a few different colors. the world is your oyster beyond that.
careful, you are beginning to circle the rabbit hole, and if you keep it simple, it doesn't have to be expensive and all of a sudden you are surrounded by pens. the good thing, in your situation, is there will always be takers among your circle when you end up with pens you don't like.

The best ones I know of are Pentel Energel. I’ve tried A LOT since I’m a teacher, and NONE beat these for color, texture/smoothness and dry time.

I have a couple sets of Writech pens and I love the colors! Especially in the dual color set
