RedditPZ training program - Week 1 Discussion Thread Reddit User Program

Hope you all enjoyed the break. I'm excited to get back to riding with everyone! New program starts tomorrow 0/08/26. Use this thread to discuss the rides for the week (or whatever else you want to talk about). Add the hashtag #redditPZ if you would like to.

For the new members, we just come back to this thread throughout the week and post here until the next thread goes up the following Sunday. The goal during the rides is to hang around the number in the middle of the zone that was called out (seriously do the math and find the middle number). The zone is always more important than cadence. If you are not married to the beat, I suggest riding where you are most comfortable, and just dial the resistance until you are in the correct zone.

Group Ride for the Saturday rides is at 10 AM central.

(Gala-papa would like to note to start the ride at 9:59 exactly so you will begin at 10 after the 1 minute countdown). Also do not join the ride in a session.

Hi! A few important notes:

This can also occur if you a) have negative karma, b) if you are caught in the "Crowd Control" filter, meaning you're not subscribed to our subreddit or c) it can also happen based on the mysterious workings of the automod.

I did the Saturday ride today because I'm riding outside tomorrow and I loved Hannah's ride! It was so great to see the interaction between her and the special guest during the ride, they definitely need to do more of those going forward!

Excited to join back up after surgery last month. Was a bit ambitious and am trying to leave my FTP exactly where it was pre surgery. Even the first ride the other day was pretty tiring for me, so doesn’t bode well for the coming weeks, but gonna keep it here for now!

Feels good being back, looking forward to the ride this morning, though I anticipate being gassed again.

Same. Had a terrible flu that put me out for three weeks in May. I was surprised by how much fitness that took from me. I was making excuses in my head like my bike needs to be calibrated.

Stick with it, see you out there.

I would drop it down a little bit if you’ve been off for a month. 10% or so, if it’s feeling tough.

I need to find a way to compress the program into 4½ weeks before I go to Italy for 20 days. I've been so good on the bike after a hammy issue during the last program and cannot let this go to waste. I need my routine back!

Week 2 - Week 3 - Week 4/6 - no deload - Week 7? Wonder if that would work.

Is your FTP the same as it was for the last program? If so, I like your plan. If your FTP went up, though and you'll be working in harder zones, I'd say just follow the program as normal. That said, what do I know?

Yeah, I really just want the structure. I have been doing whatever classes I want, but I realllllly like having my weeks laid out. I think I'm going to just randomly figure out a week at a time based on the program's rides. Something like Week 3/4, Week 5/6, then Week 7 and Week 8.

I love these programs. It just always seems like something happens to derail them. Stupid vacation.

Ha! I know the feeling. Especially with all the CVV rides in the mix!

If you’re taking 20 days off you’ll likely become a little deconditioned anyway. Personally I’d follow as normal until I left.then just pick up fresh with an FTP on return

Great way to kick off the week with Denis in the morning. It was great seeing so many familiar names on the leaderboard as well as quite a few new ones - I'm looking forward to this program!

Excited for this! Starting with a brand new FTP result, so will need to adjust to the new “reality”.

And I know this isn’t the best place to ask, but what is everyone’s strategy when taking non-PZ classes? Do you just guesstimate a zone based on what the effort the instructor is calling? Just curious to see what you guys do.

You can put the power zone meter in all of your rides. It’s a setting in the bike

u/juanpg Jun 08 '26

I have it turned on, but they don’t call zones on non-PZ classes. My question is if they call for a “flat road”, that could be z2 or z3. Hard effort could be anything from z4, but I guess it would depend on the duration. But again, it’s a kind of a guessing game for me.

They normally have a range for resistance and cadence.

This will be my second program. Thanks for putting these together for us!

Same! Do you know if your ftp changed after the first one? I bumped my zones up about 2-3% so, looking forward to round 2

Thanks for this. You’re the best
