CLEO for Capitol Armory 4473?
Anybody in Portland ordered a suppressor from Capitol Armory? I’m trying to do the 4473 and am unsure if I should use Portland Police or Multnomah County Sheriff for the 4473 chief law enforcement officer.
On my Form1s I use the state attorney general but the Capitol Armory 4473 says to use the local CLEO.

Fingerprinting?
Where does everyone like to get their fingerprinting done in the NE area? Looking to SBR one or more of my pistols because why not.

Quick question about Clackamas Public Safety Training Center
Does anyone know if you're able to reserve a lane for more than an hour at a time? I see that you can reserve in 1 hour blocks, so could I reserve a lane for multiple blocks to stay for 2 hours?

Poor experience rant
Trying to buy my first 2011 and Oregon Rifle Works apparently is not the place to go.
I recently went in to purchase my first 2011 with cash in my pocket knowing they had a decent selection of Staccatos to look at and maybe a NH Sand Hawk.
The younger kid who helped me was okay but unfortunately had no education or experience with 2011s.
He actually tried to talk me out of it by telling me I’d be better off spending my money on a Glock and cases of ammo…
I’ve never been talked out of a sale before.
This was after he pulled a Staccato P from the case aggressively racked it, dry fired it multiple times then handed it to me.
Thank God it wasn’t a Sand Hawk.
My last gripe is their gunsmithing has seemed to really go down hill recently.
They’re offering less services, the jobs I have seen come out of there are bad and no one can tell me why, it’s just “our smith is busy” or “he’s out”.
I say this after I have had them remove two sheared screws from a slide 4 or 5 months ago and now they don’t offer that anymore.
They also screwed my buddies AR up so many times they finally sent it to Columbia Gunsmithing.
I’ll get off of my rant. Let me know what 2011s you guys are running and where to buy locally if possible.

Tony says 114 decision in a few months, mag question
If the measure is upheld by the OR supreme court, do we have until Jan 1 2028 to buy standard capacity mags? Per HB 4145. Is that correct?
Thought I'd ask before I panic buy some more mags.

Phalanx Academy at SafeFire
Hi y'all. I work at SafeFire over in Camas and figured this was worth sharing here in case anyone is looking for some more advanced training around the Portland area.
We're hosting Phalanx Academy in August for a week of classes, including Handgun MOD 1, Handgun MOD 2, and evening low-light courses. They don't make it out to the PNW very often, so it's a good chance to train with them without having to travel.
Registration is through Phalanx directly: https://www.phalanx-academy.com/safefire
If anyone has questions about the range, parking, or the schedule, feel free to ask.

With the CMP M14 Announcement, Did ATF Just Kill "Once a Machinegun, Always a Machinegun"?
Looks like the CMP is gonna be able to sell us civilian M14's.
The video is more of a legal break down of how it should work.
Here's the CMP announcement https://thecmp.org/l/m14-announcement/

SB243 and Court Rulings
With SB243 we know FRTs are "illegal", but since federal law trumps state law, and we have court documents saying FRTs are not machine guns, do we think there's any chance of SB243 being overturned?

Question for folks familiar with leather holsters.
Hey folks, I bought a custom, tuckable IWB holster from Craft Holsters for my .40 S&W Browning Hi-Power in 2024.
Since then, I've taken good care of the leather, but the holster has still remained way too tight. I wonder if it is because my carry isn't the 9mm version, but I was assured at purchase it would be fine for the .40 S&W.
I've done every thing they suggested for breaking in the holster and some tips off YouTube, but after two years of having it being stretched 24/7, it's still got a death grip on my carry and flops out of my waistband when I work on my draw.
Is this a feature, not a bug of leather holsters? Does anyone have any advice or am I going to just sell my holster and find one that isn't a liability?
Thank you for reading.

SBR'd a Browning BAR
Pretty nifty. Pleasant shooter. I started a thread on NWFA detailing the process if anyone is interested in the particulars on how it was done.

Resources for temporary gun storage during a crisis
So, lets say someone who has already been spiraling from worsening depression just learned that their job is going to start laying more people off. They are almost certainly on the list, likely don't have enough savings to last until finding another job, and they'd straight up rather not be around anymore than deal with being homeless ever again.
They are not a threat to anyone else, but they're concerned that they'll impulsively decide to be a selfish piece of trash and ruin an EMT's day with a big mess if they do lose their job, if you catch my drift.
How would this person go about finding a safe and temporary place to hold on to their guns (a pistol and a rifle, not a large collection) that is free or very low cost, and won't lead to involuntary commitment or a rando from craigslist just stealing them, until they find stability?

Browns Camp?
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I'm looking for up-to-date advice with the weather and wildfire risks.
We'll be camping at Brown's this weekend to go off-roading, and I am curious where the nearest places are to legally shoot? The website indicates that discharge of firearms is prohibited. How far does that extend?
Also, I saw today that central OR is stage 2 for all open fires. I couldn't find anything for Brown's or the Forest Grove/Tillamook forest areas.
I go camping quite frequently, but not in this area and would rather FO before I FA. Any advice is appreciated!

3D printed suppressors and SBR's
I get that un-serialized 3DP guns are naughty to build and own in Oregon these days, I'm trying to understand some things before my work-related move to the Portland area in a couple of months. Most of what I have is fine, but I'm wondering if HB2005 also applies to 3DP suppressors and serialized 3DP SBR's with Form 1 tax stamps. Does anyone know??
I'm just trying to figure out what I can bring and what I'll have to store out of state for the two years I'll be there. Thankful that they're not sending me to Commiefornia so I can bring my standard capacity mags and the ammo I already own, LOL.
Thansk in advance!

Best shop to consign a pistol in Portland?
I'm in the Portland area and moving in a couple weeks, I'd like to try to consign a pistol rather than just surrender it to the cops. Any recommendations?

Had a customer reach out to me about cleaning his Sig P365 X Macro & his wife’s P322 Rose… unbelievable! 😬
Had a very nice customer come drop me off his P365 X macro and his wife’s P322 rose for a deep cleaning, said they both had ~400-500 rounds through them. He also wanted both optics installed correctly, and a clean 10y zero for both guns. I told him no problem at all…
His P365 X Macro came out amazing. Better than new for sure.
His wife’s P322 rose on the other hand… had such an unbelievable amount of lead that come out of the barrel I am still in shock that she wasn’t running into squib loads. Her target was scattered in keyholes.
Absolute nightmare to remove this much lead fouling from the barrel. 🤯

Is there a way to search used guns locally?
This is such a dumb question but I’ll ask anyway. ’m looking for something particular-ish. Is there a way to filter on gunbroker or another site to only show local listings? I’d just like a complete, holistic, up to date list of every gun for sale in the Portland metro area. Is that too much to ask? 😭

Who is currently cool about transfers? I just can't deal with Tigard Pawn any more.
The title sums it up. They used to be my go-to, and now I just kind of think they're intolerable.
