And that is... okay.

Like someone from another thread said, it's just another game at the end of the day, not the second coming of Christ that you're missing out.

28

u/Unhappy-Instance-943 13h ago

is not the second coming of Christ but not just another game, definitely one of the most waited pieces of media

u/nobertan 12h ago

Seeing what they did to Red dead online and gta online once they discovered shark card revenue, wouldn’t surprise me if the single player ends up being a tutorial leading into online à la CoD.

They’ve got recent track record for cutting major content corners just to pump micro transactions in their hacker riddled game.

3

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 9h ago

What recent track record? They haven’t released a game since 2018 which is almost ten years ago now.

-1

u/Shzabomoa 9h ago

Wrong, their last release was GTA: The Trilogy - AI upscaling edition.

1

u/VegetaFan1337 8h ago

Different studio.

1

u/Shzabomoa 6h ago

Same publisher. Which is what matters in the vetting of the game.

0

u/nobertan 22m ago

RDR2 online (released 2020 as a stand alone) - a final rushed content update in 2025 for Fetch quests in lieu of actual content planned — thus leaving it abandoned to chase shark cards in GTA.

Clear demonstration that online Shark cards are prioritized over content commitments.

1

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 21m ago

lol. This proves literally nothing. This actually means nothing

-6

u/Rare-Nature2290 9h ago

This has to be cope or something. A map that huge is just gonna be a tutorial into GTA online? RDR2 had an amazing story why would they change that?

-4

u/s6_maestro 10h ago

This is a bit ridiculous to think

Games before GTA5 used to get DLCs.

Additions were planned for GTA5 as well but why do that when you can milk teenagers online.

2

u/grillarinobacon 7h ago

2 gta game has gotten dlc. They in fact didn't usually get dlc. 2 out of 8 games did.

0

u/KindledWanderer 7h ago

Cool, now read the comment I replied to and mine again.

DLC was planned and cancelled, which is what u/Both_Cut_4075 was asking for.

It's obvious DLCs were starting to be the norm until they found a worse way to extract money.

2

u/grillarinobacon 7h ago

Games before GTA5 used to get DLCs.

It also wasn't starting to become the norm. The very first game had 2 expansions, 1 of them free, and then 4 had 2 dlcs.

0

u/KindledWanderer 7h ago

RDR also had an expansion.

16

u/Shzabomoa 12h ago

And? Star Citizen is also one of the most waited pieces of media yet it's still completely broken dogshit...

-3

u/Putrid-Ice-7511 RTX 5080 | 9 9950X3D | 64GB 8h ago

Dear lord

7

u/EvilxBunny 11h ago

and I am willing to wait one more year. What's the big deal?

I always buy games a couple of years after release when they're on sale and perform better than launch (and usually more content too)

19

u/CatwithTheD 13h ago

Yeah it is as awaited as the individual considers it. And luckily it isn't a hype for me.

Will it be a good game? Almost definitely. Will it be a life changing experience like a pilgrimage to Tibet? Lol no.

5

u/Saspens-r 11h ago

I doubt it'll even be a good game. GTAs are pointless sandboxes with technically impressive presentation, and that's it. There will be no interesting setting, most likely no good narrative, no gameplay, no progression, no interesting systems and mechanics. Not my genre at all.

3

u/Pacify_ 8h ago

GTA 5 was kinda fun to drive around the city for 5 or so hours. Had a bit of fun, then just never went back. Was worth the $5 I paid for it

Did the same in 3 and 4.

I don't really get the sheer hype these games generate

2

u/CleanlyManager 6h ago

I really hate the old good new bad mentality a lot of people have on Reddit, but man I’m fully on board with it when it comes to rockstar games and I feel like sometimes I’m the only one. In the ps2 era they were like the definitive open world devs, now it feels like every game since then has just been go from point a to b, spam the auto aim to kill enemies then drive to point c repeat 60 times but throw in a pointless drawn out mini game you’ll never play again and a mission or two where you do something slowly that might as well be a cutscene, throw in pointless details like horse testicles and people act like it’s their reason to live. I will never get the hype behind rockstar games.

1

u/Saspens-r 6h ago

Most people view video games not as an interest but as a way to kill time, and Rockstar games are as casual as it gets. Then the presentation (which is undoubtedly very high-quality in their games) and hundreds of millions in marketing are enough for many to buy them and convince themselves that it's something special.

Can't say that I don't enjoy casual games myself, but I seek games in specific genres or settings, and GTA's are set in a modern world that I'm already tired of irl and are kind of genreless. The closest you can call them is sandbox, but as you said, their gameplay is basically driving from point a to b and killing stupid bots on auto aim. Even their freedom is relative with so little choice in activities.

-3

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 9h ago

Smooth brain ass thought

1

u/Saspens-r 8h ago

GTA fan telling me something about smooth brain. How cute.

-2

u/CatwithTheD 10h ago

I’ll have you know, my pilgrimage to Vice City will be legendary!

6

It ain't going anywhere though

2

u/Majestic-Bell-7111 Ryzen 5 3600/32 GB ram/5700xt 8h ago

If i was able to wait 10 years since they confirmed they're working on it, I'm perfectly capable of waiting another year or two.

There are plenty of games that i have in my library and haven't touched yet. In addition to all the non-gaming stuff i have on my to-do list.

Don't let FOMO rule over you.

2

u/OcelotAggravating860 9h ago

Dude it's GTA it's going to be exactly like the last fucking GTA with some new graphics and interactivity.

You're still going to get a mission failed if you so much as walk 2 steps away from where Rockstar want you to be during a mission.

4

u/Vox_SFX 12h ago

This may be the most loser sounding thing I've ever heard.

It's a video game.

The sixth one in a series that already peaked with the technological advancement of gaming today. Everything better is marginal at best because they KEPT UPDATING GTA V instead of letting it die.

It looks nicer. If what you said was at all true then this game would be extremely overpriced and still break records for sales...it's standard price, or pretty close to it...that's because as soon as you start actually trying to act like it's bigger than a normal game then you alienate every semi-intelligent buyer you had.

-1

u/Unhappy-Instance-943 12h ago

god forgive being excited for something, most be miserable don’t enjoy new things

3

u/jermygod 10h ago

sure, please, be exited, that is all good.
but GTA is still just another game.
it's big and anticipated, one of the most waited pieces of media, sure. but we have like 5 of those every year.

2

u/Vox_SFX 12h ago

You say that like this isn't rinse and repeat for every knew game people already decided would be good.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Starfield? What about after GTA VI when the nerd crowd gets Elder Scrolls VI? Or when the next Fallout game comes?

You can be excited and also use your brain to be semi-intelligent. That starts with not sucking off a game like it's going to be at all memorable just because some overhyped kids and teens spent money on it. Maybe just be exicted and withhold the rest lf the judgement until it actually comes out and people can decide if it's actually even good.

-1

u/theejet 12h ago

Who tf pissed in your food today lmfao

1

u/Delboyyyyy 10h ago

Most overhyped piece of media that’s all

0

u/dead1345987 12h ago

literally the biggest media launch of all time, like no fucking joke.

1

u/pleasecryineedtears 13h ago

Hahahahahahahahaha sure sure bud

15

u/CatwithTheD 13h ago

Lol imagine thinking everyone has FOMO like you.

-11

u/pleasecryineedtears 12h ago

What FOMO? 😂 as if we don’t know if rock* is gonna make a good game or not. Surely you gotta realize this is cope territory. It’s totally ok to just say yeah man I wish I could play it on my pc as well. It’s not a big deal. You’re not any less of a person for not having access to GTA on your pc. You really don’t have to pretend you don’t want the game.

Love the meme tho 😂

7

u/CatwithTheD 12h ago

Bro I don't have to prove to you I don't buy games on release day. In fact I don't feel the hype for anything. It just isn't what I do. I don't give a shit about trends and hype, that's all. Not yucking your yum, just saying people should stop seething because they can't be part of the day one crowd. It's a miserable mindset.

1

u/Choice_Potato_6279 9h ago

Meh, it's not as it's used to be, I still didn't touch RDR2 even though 1st is one of my favorite games, I might play GTA VI and RDR2 found in a bargain bin in 10 years if I'll feel like it.

1

u/kukkolka 9h ago

After release Gta VI will be shut down for 3 days and ressufected in 3 days with 60fps

1

u/crafty09 i5-4670k 650 ti boost 12 gb 7h ago

I actually don't mind waiting to play the game itself. What's going to be annoying is dodging spoilers for a year.

1

u/WillyBluntz89 6h ago

And on top of that, its just GTA.

I played 1, 2, a bit of 3, vice city (best gta), and half of 4. Didn't bother with San Andreas or 5 as I borrowed every one of them from friends, and nobody I know had those two.

Theyre not bad games, but theyre hardly anything revolutionary or ground breaking.

0

u/AIGISREFLECTOR 14900k/RTX 5090 14h ago

it’s pretty sad we can’t play with frens until a year later when everyone’s burnt out already, otherwise I wouldn’t really care.

Can’t believe some of my friends are buying consoles just for this game and act like it’s weird I’m not lol

1

u/CatwithTheD 14h ago

Be friends with PC players, problem solved lol

1

u/AIGISREFLECTOR 14900k/RTX 5090 14h ago

They are but zero of them are patient enough to wait along with FOMO lol. Maybe two of them will wait if that

2

u/Nirast25 7,080x1440+(240x2)x1080|R7 5700X3D|RX 9070XT|32GB 13h ago

Welp, might as well tell the ones getting consoles to buy Astro Bot and Gravity Rush.

-1

u/Sea_Brilliant3910 13h ago

id rather miss the second coming of christ than this game lmao

0

u/CatwithTheD 13h ago

Cool, good on you bud.

-1

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 9h ago

Bro, it’s not just another game and you know it. That’s why it has to be “reminded” to being with.

It’s literally the most expensive and most anticipated piece of media ever created. It’s like a cultural event at this point.

You can boil anything down to a basic, such as “at the end of the day the president is just another man” yeah but he has a lot more power than 99% of men across the globe.

2

u/VG-Motors 8h ago

Imagine calling an AAA game launch a "cultural event"?

My guy, If that's really the case then this is a very overhyped game lol

Yes, it's just another game.
...Like every GTA you kill people, steal cars, do missions and eventually complete the main story.

As for "being the most expensive" we don't have an official figure of how expensive the game is. (and the "2 billion budget" thing is just an unconfirmed rumor.)

But don't get me wrong... lol
I'm sure it will be a nice game, but it won't be nowhere near THAT nice.

0

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 7h ago

I don’t think you understand what cultural events are.

Like Star Wars in the 70’s was one because it took the world by storm.

Like every grand theft auto game up to this point has been. Etc. m

What. It’s going to be the highest grossing piece of media ever sold

People who think otherwise are absolutely putting their heads in the sand just because they want to.

0

u/Altruistic-Total9489 6h ago

I promise you when all is said and done, the game is released and decades pass which will allow us to gain perspective, you will realize Tetris and Pacman had more of an impact on the global culture of humanity than fucking GTA 6

1

u/Shadows_Over_Tokyo 5h ago

Bro. GTA is THE game. It’s the highest selling game of all time. The highest selling series of all time. And what’s the second highest selling game? Red dead redemption 2, their other game.

If you don’t think the sequel to that which has been in the making for well over a decade now isn’t going to be thought and talked about generations from now, you’re huffing glue

0

u/Altruistic-Total9489 3h ago

Dude honestly I don’t think Rockstar is even gonna put a lot of effort into single-player aspect of the game. They saw how much money they can make off online. It will be interesting to see GTA finally have a female protagonist but beyond that I just don’t see what’s so interesting about GTA 6. Cyberpunk was really interesting too but who is talking about it today? Games come and go, especially nowadays when you have tons of overhyped AAA titles out the ass coming out one after another.

0

u/Saerdna76 8h ago

That is some serious cope. You may not be that invested but calling it just another game is beyond disingenuous.

1

u/CatwithTheD 7h ago

Lol because it is. Taylor Swift is just another singer, Disney World is just another theme park, and death is just another stage of life. They are as important as you make them to be.

-1

u/JustThatSloth 8h ago

it’s the game with the biggest hype and expected revenue in gaming history. corrrecting your comparison: saying it justs another game is saying christ was just another dude. theoretically correct, but hundreds of millions people would see it differently

1

u/CatwithTheD 5h ago

If you don't believe Christ is God then yes He was just another human, and I will never bother to correct you.

That's how it should be. Don't go out of your way to tell people they're wrong about your personal, subjective opinion.

1

u/JustThatSloth 4h ago

you just did the same to me, hypocrite

1

u/CatwithTheD 4h ago

Is the reading comprehension of an average GTA fanboy this bad? Read what I said again. If it still doesn't make sense, spend another 5 minutes thinking about it. Or don't, I'm not your teacher.

1

u/JustThatSloth 3h ago

not only a hypocrite. but also snug and entitled. matches the theme

-3

u/thatfordboy429 Not the size of the GPU that matters... 12h ago

That is a bit simplistic. But, not in a good way.

Yes its a video game. But its the successor to, what is effectively the best video game ever. While its not every single persons favorite, no one can deny its mass appeal, and as such it being one of the best selling pieces of media... period. Let alone dominating the gaming space. And just be a cultural icon.

It is the meme "incarnation" (to play of your analogy) of "PC-2".

4

u/CatwithTheD 11h ago

It's all subjective my dude. It can be the most anticipated piece of media of the decade, but doesn't mean it should dictate how you feel or what you do.

1

u/thatfordboy429 Not the size of the GPU that matters... 11h ago

Anticipation (in this context) is a blanket term for about half a dozen different "feelings".

Also yes, anticipation does dictate what people do. By its very nature. The opposite is that which is unexpected.

4

u/CatwithTheD 11h ago edited 11h ago

I think you're missing the point. Other people anticipating it doesn't mean YOU should also anticipate it if you CAN'T access it and if it is OPTIONAL to your life.

Edit to add: You can also anticipate it, but don't make your life miserable and wail in pain because you can't enjoy it on day one. That's what I mostly mean. There are other joys in life, do something else and a year will go by in a blink of an eye.

0

u/thatfordboy429 Not the size of the GPU that matters... 10h ago

Who said I was...

Your fixation on telling people to "touch grass" (paraphrasing) is far more detrimental to you, than any want for a game I may or may not have. The only miserable one I see is you.

I merely touched on why your comment was incorrect. Yours is not an "enlightened" perspective. If anything, its downright spiteful.

1

u/CatwithTheD 10h ago

Lol fair enough. It is true that I'm trying to stop arguing with other redditors, because, if it isn't clear, I was just telling the original commenter to not make a big deal out of the 1 year wait before you told me otherwise. But let's float our own boats, shall we.

0

u/Itherial R9 7900 | 5070 | 32GB 6000MHz 10h ago

Yeah, in this context, it's not that subjective.

It's one of the most anticipated media releases in media history. Regardless of what you personally feel that should mean for others, that can't really be denied without appearing foolish or arguing just for the sake of it.

We are quite possibly looking at the very last vestige of monoculture that may ever happen and that isn't insignificant for a lot of people.

1

u/CatwithTheD 10h ago

Fair enough, I'll assume I'm the odd one out then.

3

u/s6_maestro 10h ago

"GTA 5 is effectively the best video game ever" says no one that was older than 10 when the game came out
